Skyline Drive to Virginia Beach

Planning on my first road trip via Skyline Drive to Virginia Beach and am looking for suggested places to visit from the end of Skyline Drive to Virginia Beach. Some recommendations have been Jamestown and Williamsburg; any others? Thank you all...I love tripadvisor.com. I%26#39;m not really a hiker; but am a walker.

Skyline Drive to Virginia Beach

you do know Skyline Drive does not go any wear near Virginia Beach?

Skyline Drive to Virginia Beach

Ya I know. I heading to VA Beach because family has a condo and I can chill there for a day before heading home via the Cheasepeak Bridge, shopping at the Rehobeth Beach outlets, then onto the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. So SNP seemed a great way to begin and see some of great Virginia, like Williamsburg and Jamestown. AND, Skyline Drive and the Bridge are among the top ten scenic routes.

BakuBabs, When traveling in SNP, keep the information number handy, 540 999-3500, prompt #1 is for Skyline Drive status and provides closure/detour information.

Happy trails

If you drive the length of Skyline Drive and exit at Rockfish Gap, Staunton, VA is west, maybe 30 miles or so. It has the Frontier Culture Museum. Going east on I-64, Charlottesville has Jefferson%26#39;s home, Monticello, wineries, and UVA. Richmond has the Museum and White House of the Confederacy, and a neat little Edgar Allan Poe Museum, among other things. Of course, I%26#39;d recommend Colonial Williamsburg, the two Jamestown sites, and the two Yorktown sites.

Just to let you know, there are outlets close to Williamsburg, just west of town. Prime Outlets has good shopping.

You might want to check out Shirley Plantation, on Rt. 5, between Richmond and Williamsburg. shirleyplantation.com

I was going to suggest Prime Outlets too, but since Delaware does not have a sales tax, it would be cheaper for BakuBabs to shop in Rehobeth. Unless Prime Outlets in Williamsburg has shops Rehobeth doesn%26#39;t...

Hi BakuBabs,

Just past Williamsburg %26amp; Yorktown on your way to VA Beach, you will hit Newport News, Hampton, then Norfolk. There are loads of things to do in those areas as well. Not sure exactly what types of things would interest you, but there%26#39;s pretty much anything to suit anyone%26#39;s tastes going through those cities too- from nature to history to museums to shopping, etc- pretty endless. Here are their sites to help give you ideas-
