Booked the Courtyard by Marriott on Eisenhower - got it for 89 per night in June. Is this a safe place to stay, and how long would it take to get to DC by metro from this hotel. Any other helpful hints are appreciated - First time in DC only spending a day there and a day around Alexandria. Thinking of hitting the Duck tours, the Mall Memorials, and a lttle of the Smithsonian. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Staying in Alexandria - question about hotel and area
Courtyard is just a few blocks from the Eisenhower (yellow) line. You got a great deal for June, and pretty safe location to boot. Only problem...one day%26#39;s not going to do much for you. Pick one and stick with it...I%26#39;d suggest walking the mall to see the outdoor monuments and slip into one of the museums. Skip the duck tour since you are on such short time. Suggest instead, having dinner in Old Town and taking the Boat Shuttle to Georgetown for an impromptu cruise during the early evening hours its only $14 bucks round trip from Old Town to Georgetown.

thank you - thank cruise sounds like a great idea
Very good location and the price is a GREAT deal. I agree that you should not do the duck tour. Use the first day for monuments and if you aren%26#39;t tired use the second day to either drive or take the Tourmobile in the morning to Arlington Cemetery to see changing of the guard at Tomb of the Unknown and some of the other famous gravesites/monuments at Arlington and then spend the afternoon at Mt. Vernon, Washington%26#39;s Estate. If you can do the Mall monuments, Arlington, and Mt. Vernon you will definitely feel as if you have seen the highlights of DC. The short drive from Old Town to Mt. Vernon(8 miles) is lovely along the river. Enjoy!
Thank you - Sounds like a gret idea!
