Anywhere to Stay with Kitchen?

I would like to cut dowm on the amount of money we will spend on meals during our 5 days in Williamsburg. Do any hotels offer suites with a kitchen? Are there any affordable condos?

Thanks!

Anywhere to Stay with Kitchen?

Hilton%26#39;s Homewood Suites is now open on Bypass Road near the historic area; the rooms have kitchens. they were offering some discounts for lodging -- you may want to call them directly and see if there is anything available that mmets your travel times and budget.

Anywhere to Stay with Kitchen?

Thanks. I just checked their rates and they are more than we can spend. Their cheapest room is $209. We will be traveling in June...

Thanks. Any other ideas?

Check out the Hampton Inn And Suites, there are 3 of them, Bypass Road, Capitol Landing Road, and Richmond Road.

Hi CarolinaMom,

I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;d be interested in considering staying 20 minutes outside of Williamsburg, in neighboring Newport News? Or maybe Hampton?

During my visits to special events or %26#39;touristy%26#39; areas, I%26#39;ve saved hundreds of dollars by staying an easy 20-30 min interstate drive away %26amp; have saved the headache of avoiding the in-town traffic of such- also an added bonus! But of course it will always naturally depend on your preference of proximity vs. price vs. in-town traffic vs. interstate travel, etc.

If so, you may consider the Point Plaza Hotel in Newport News. They are just a hop off I-64, about 20 minutes or so from Colonial Williamsburg- an easy straight shot down I-64. They have several different types of rooms %26amp; suites, but it sounds like their Executive Suites may be exactly what you are looking for- those suites have a bedroom, living room, and full kitchen (and I mean a FULL kitchen, like what you would find in an apartment- NOT just the measly kitchenettes that some suite hotels claim are %26#39;kitchens%26#39;, lol). They are a really nice hotel too, they have a restaurant %26amp; indoor pool, BBQ pavilion on the outdoor sundecks by the pool, complimentary board games %26amp; a DVD library for guests to use, etc. Not sure when you are coming in June, but if you want to check out their website to check rates it is www.pointplazasuites.com . Oh, and an added bonus- they sell discounted attraction tickets, including discount passes to Colonial Williamsburg, so you may be able to save some additional money there.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information! I do want to stay as close to Colonial Williamsburg as possible though. I was just looking at the Patrick Henry Inn %26amp; Suites. They have one bedroom units with a small kitchen, a study and two baths for $109/night. Does anyone know if this is a decent place to stay? Is it really in walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg?

Thanks!

We stayed at Wyndam Kingsgate which is a timeshare it was cheap and had a kitchen so we could cook and save money. It has a pool and a huge game room which my boys loved. It was close to downtown, with a rental car, and having a kitchen was great. Just beware of the timeshare sales it takes forever and they push hard. Aside from that you can sometimes get a great rate, we paid $165 for the week and rented an extra for my mom for $265. We had a great trip and loved Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, Virginia Beach, and the evening programs were well worth the money, we enjoyed that more than walking around Williamsburg, it was more intimate and easier for the kids to get into and learn from. They also really liked taking a carriage ride which you have to get up early for and wait in line at 9 am to get the tickets.

The Patrick Henry Inn really is walking distance, less than 10 minutes%26#39; walk from the Capitol. For the first day, I%26#39;d drive to the Visitors Center to get tickets, and walk or take the shuttle to the Historic Area. After you have your tickets, you will find the Historic Area an easy walk, and quite pleasant, too.

The Patrick Henry Inn just went thru a small renovation as BlueGreen Resorts purchased it about 2 years or so ago and put some money into the property. Since then, I think the timeshare part of that hotel no longer exist. It is the closest hotel to Colonial Williamsburg not including the Colonial Williamsburg owned hotels which are on site.

I would highly recommend the Homewood Suiets by Hilton. I stayed their for my honeymoon and live in the area. It is a great hotel with great staff!

I just came back from a wk vacation in CW and we stayed in a timeshare, Kings Creek Plantation and it had a full kitchen even with an oven and not that far from the VC with a car and anywhere on 60 bypass or Hampton Inn Suites on Richmond Rd also may have places with kitchens, but anything on 60 by pass or Richmond Rd would be ok, Richmond rd is very long and right around Chili%26#39;s on Richmond Rd, find the address and 100 block and there are several hotel places w/kitchenette on that Rd and about 5-7 mins away from the VC. Go on www.visitwilliamsburg and I%26#39;m sure there might even be some deals for accomodation on there and for your passes to the museums. It all was very nice and plan on alot of walking and take a little lunch bag and pack yourself some lunch because there are benches and places for you to sit at to be able to eat your own lunch that you packed.

Did you get a deal when staying at king creek? I am looking for a timeshare presentation deal there.
