we will be visiting washington dc next year in late summer/early fall. Pros and cons for this hotel? best restaurants to go to in this area?
thank you
Crystal Gateway Mariott
I live down the street from this hotel.
Pro%26#39;s:
Short Metro trip to tourist areas (approx 10mins)
Can get to Metro without going outside
Can walk to a 30 plus restaurants
Has a pool
Con%26#39;s
Not in DC, but EXTREMELY close.
A little quiet on weekends - this is an area full of businesses
There are about 30 or more restaurants within walking distance. What kinds of food do you like? Kids? Ages? There is everything from seafood, tapas, sports bars, sushi, etc in the area.

We love Italian food, seafood, American, continental; only adults will be going. what restaurants would you recommend?
thanks
I will be staying here this Memorial Day weekend with a 14 year old. How far to Quantico from this hotel? He is very interested in going there and I would like to take him. How about places to eat around this hotel? He is not into anything but chicken, pizza, hot dogs, etc. And from what I understand, the metro stop is under the hotel??? We will be taking the metro to see all of the monuments.
I would say Quantico is at least a 30-40 minute drive from this hotel (in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington). Don%26#39;t hold me to that, though.
There%26#39;s quite a few restaurants along Crystal Drive: McCormick %26amp; Schmick%26#39;s (lots of seafood, but also steaks, chicken, etc), Neramitra Thai, Jaleo, Bebo Trattoria. Even more along 23rd Street. For the Crystal Drive restaurants, I would say about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel (under or above ground). 23rd Street is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.
What you%26#39;ll find in the underground shops area are mostly cafes and sandwich/lunch spots for the weekday business crowd.
We stay at this hotel each time we visit-in fact will be there Thur-Sun Easter week.
The hotel is clean and has a nice helpful staff.
The main reason we stay here is typically the price is right; and you can access the metro without going outside. A downfall is that there is no complimentary breakfast, but you are close to several choices in the mall.
