My family (husband, 4 %26amp; 7 year old girls, and myself)are planning to go to VB for a week, possibly the weekend before/week after memorial day. is it super busy? would it be better or worse than around last week of june or week of fourth of july?
we%26#39;d like to go to williamsburg, busch gardens as well that week - i%26#39;m assuming a weekday is better at those places, correct?
we are thinking of staying at the four sails (we have a timeshare to use, of our choices, it got the best ratings on this site). Anyone have any thoughts on this hotel?
thanks - we are really looking forward to our vacation!
memorial weekend at the four sails?
Check out vbfun.com for events around that time.
Remember the Music-Remember the Heroes is Maay 23 -25 on the oceanfront. There will be fireworks and bands at the Pavilion at 17th St., the Palladium at 24th and Neptune Park at 31st, among other things.
South of the resort area is the Strawberry Festival the 24th and 25th.
That same weekend is Big Bands at the Cavalier, a grand historic hotel in the northern end of the resort area. They will have music from the 30s to 50s, big band sound; you feel like your in the Great Gatsby!
The following weekend, the 30th to June 1, is the Patriotic Fetival, a tribute to our armed forces with top name groups entertaining. There will be big names at the 5th St. stage which they set up on the sand on the 300 ft. wide beach. It is fun and if you stay just a few blocks away you don%26#39;t feel any of the crowds...just fun. There will also be things going on on the other small stages up and down the boardwalk. Guess who%26#39;ll be the big names? Sugarland Friday, Brian McKnight Sat., and Travis Tritt Sunday. And all FREE!

Many Virginia schools will be in session until mid June, so I would suspect the crowds will be lighter at the parks and Williamsburg, especially during the week. After the middle of June crowds really increase.
A negative variable would be that the water temp will still be chilly. Most kids don%26#39;t care though! I am amazed when I see them swimming even in Nov!
thanks everyone! Unfortunately, there are no timeshares open the week we want to go.....so we are going to stay in williamsburg i guess. I am a little disappointed, but I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll enjoy it there, and we%26#39;ll just drive to the beach a few times.
We%26#39;ll plan to go to the beach on sunday before memorial day and possibly memorial day (unless you all think it%26#39;ll be crazy busy). Maybe memorial day will be a hotel/pool/mini golf/shopping day.
then busch gardens the tuesday after memorial day (i%26#39;ll make sure they are open). Then play the rest of the week by ear. I know we want a couple of beach days, but they won%26#39;t be full days, on the beach all day long.
thanks again!!
What timeshare are you staying in at Williamsburg?
Hi, Suekap. A good question. This post is from over a year ago. And the OP started out asking about accommodations in Virginia Beach...Four Sails.
Can you start a new post please...don%26#39;t mind if it%26#39;s on Virginia Beach for people that want to ask about staying in VB and going to Williamsburg; or maybe on the Williamsburg Forum.
That way more people can benefit from current info. Thanks for the question.
