Where to go for nice dinner?

We received a $50 gift certifcate to Restaurant.com. Any suggestions on where to have a nice dinner? We will be staying in the Courtyard Marriott in Arlington for a weekend in January. Husband likes steaks and I like any kind of seafood or a good steak. The place must be listed on their web site. Thanks for any help.

I went on Restaurant.com and looked at what was available on did not see any place we have eaten. Maybe I need to broaden the search and go outside of Arlington Co.

I would think that other posters would be able to respond to your request..

I looked at their website and also am not familiar with most of the places. One I do know is Shula%26#39;s Steakhouse. If you will have a car, it would be about a 30 minute drive from your hotel to Shula%26#39;s, which was the only option I really saw for steak. I don%26#39;t know that $50 would get you dinner for two there, but it%26#39;d go probably 50% to 2/3 of the way there.

Another option, which I%26#39;ve been to for lunch but not dinner, is Panache Restaurant downtown. It has a nice decor, is in a good neighborhood not far from Du Pont Circle, and the food is decent. It has the advantage of being metro accessible -- from your hotel you%26#39;d take the blue line to Farragut West and walk less than 10 minutes, or take the Yellow to Gallery Place, change to the Red to Farragut North, and walk about 3 minutes.

Hope that helps.

Meant to add -- Panache isn%26#39;t a steak place at all, but they%26#39;ve got some decent seafood options. I%26#39;d check out their menu to see if it is to your taste.

Forgot to mention we do have a car and traveling around the DC area is no problem.

I looked at Restaurant.com for northern Va. and the only steakhouse I saw was Shula%26#39;s in Vienna but I have not eaten there; did not check for restaurants in the District, though.

As you%26#39;ll have a car, I suspect Shula%26#39;s will get the job done for you. I have not eaten at the one in Vienna, but I have eaten at two other Shula%26#39;s Steakhouses -- one in Miami Lakes FL and one in Naples FL. The steaks were excellent at both. The decor was very different as between the two locations. The one in Miami Lakes was brighter, with more sports memorabilia around, and had the decor of a significantly less tacky Appleby%26#39;s. The one in Naples had some sports memorabilia around, but had dark wood paneling on the walls, lower lighting, and an overall ';fancier'; feel to it. I don%26#39;t know which way the decor of the one in Vienna goes, but if you%26#39;re looking for good food I%26#39;d expect it to deliver as from my two experiences the chain does seem to have their act together on that end.

Try Ray%26#39;s the Steaks near the Courthouse Metro station. Really good steaks for much less than you%26#39;d pay in a place like Flemings or Ruth C.
