Has anybody stayed at the Historic Powhatan or Kings Mill Plantation? They are both timeshare options through RCI and I am looking for reviews other than those on the website.

Lodging at the Historic Powhatan Resort
I stayed there for three nights last year. The place is beautiful, but quite difficult to find. I kept getting lost going to and from the colonial area of Williamsburg. I booked online and paid only $59 per night.
For that price, I had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with large television and full kitchen. Also a laundry area.
The place has a small, but beautiful gourmet restaurant. I did not eat there.

Lodging at the Historic Powhatan Resort
I have stayed at Powhatan and it was really nice. The only reason we did not return was the second bedroom in a two bedroom unit had two twins instead of two queens. I have three daughters and that meant one of them had to sleep on the pull out sofa. Which she was not to happy about. So, if that is not an issue for you I can recommend Powhatan Plantation. The pools are great and the property is very nice and clean.
Thanks for your input. Do you have any suggestions for first time Willliamsburg visitors?

It might be more productive to post your question about advice for first-time visitors as a new topic. It%26#39;s a bit lost under the ';Historic Powhatan Resort'; heading. :-)
Just in case you check back to your question about first-time visitors...definitely visit the Capitol, the Palace, the Peyton Randolph House, the George Wythe House, and either the Raleigh or the Wetherburne tavern. Visit the Raleigh Tavern Bakery for some snacks. I also recommend the wig maker, the milliner, the boot maker, the blacksmith, the bookbinder. But check the CW paper so that you visit the trade sites which interest you. Take part in one of the evening activities: a ghost walk, a trial, or a lanthorn tour. I also recommend eating at least once in one of the taverns. If you don%26#39;t want to do dinner, eat lunch at one of them. Wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking. If you have time, check out one of the James River plantations along route 5.
Thanks for all the great advise. How do I post as a new topic?
Hi, ladydirn -- you can post a new topic by using the long blue button that appears within inches of the end of this thread ... it%26#39;s called ';Post a new topic';.
Lucky you -- you%26#39;ve picked a very nice time to visit Williamsburg. Have fun.
We have our timeshare there, and we love it, very cozy, lots of room. A single unit usually offers 2 bedrooms, one king and 2 twins, plus a queen size pull out sofa, and all first floor untis offer a hottub. One year our hot tub was leaking so we couldn%26#39;t use it but they were really good about offering us tickets to atractions and things if there were any problems. The actual plantation house is beautiful too and a must see if you are staying there.
Before we bought our timeshare we stayed at King%26#39;s Gate and that was also a beautiful place, kind of a townhouse setting. Both are within a short drive to downtown colonial.
Hope this helps!!!
Is it close to the water park or bush gardens?
