Sept. Visit
Hi, Winifred -- what%26#39;s your focus? You can mix and match 3 centuries -- 17th, 18th and 19th. If you%26#39;re sticking to just Colonial Williamsburg (the 18th century) I%26#39;d recommend a stay of 4 days, eating at all 4 taverns, and staying at one of the official hotel properties (choices from 2*-5*). If you want to bracket that with the Jamestown time period (17th century) and the Civil War (19th century), you%26#39;ll need to add 2-3 days.
Use www.history.org to begin your research into Williamsburg (including the calendar of events for September) and to see the lodging and dining options at CW.
Here is a list of websites for other hotels and some timeshares:
Williamsburg Hotel and Motel Association: http://www.gowilliamsburg.com/
Williamsburg Bed and Breakfast Network -- http://www.bandbwilliamsburg.com/
Williamsburg guest houses -- visitwilliamsburg.com/book-lodging/guest-hom…
Williamsburg vacation rentals -- visitwilliamsburg.com/book-lodging/vacation-…
Williamsburg timeshares: vacationtimesharerentals.com/United-States/…
Colonial Williamsburg official hotels: http://www.colonialwilliamsburgresort.com/
[Hotels within walking distance (1/2 mile) of the restored area: Governor’s Inn, (a CW property), Patrick Henry Inn, Clarion Historic District and Hospitality House.]
[The Colonial Houses are operated by the Williamsburg Inn and afford a unique opportunity to stay in an actual 18th century house or dependency (kitchen, laundry, office, etc.) right on the streets of the historic area. They are furnished to a high standard and have modern amenities.]
Welcome, hope you have fun planning!
