I wasn%26#39;t sure where on the forum to post this.
We are looking for vacatioin suggestions.
We are a group of 8-10 30 somethings who go on vacation together every July. We have a 3 day span (Friday - Monday). We%26#39;ve been to Busch Gardens, Virigina Beach %26amp; Kings Dominion. We%26#39;re looking this year for something in the western part of Virigina.
We%26#39;re basically looking for a nice place to relax. We%26#39;re not big %26#39;outdoorsy%26#39; people but will look into anything you can suggest.
We don%26#39;t need anything fancy, just clean and relatively cheap (we try to keep are trips at about $500/couple).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Suggestions Needed';Western'; Virginia could mean Leesburg or Roanoke, and depending on where you are coming from, you are talking a big difference in travel time.
The Charlottesville area is very nice. Wintergreen resort is not far from there with a lot of options-mild ';outdoorsy'; stuff, golf, etc. There is a lot of history, vinyards, dining, shopping.
Suggestions NeededThere are 2 July events in Floyd, Va (WHERE?): The Fandango Beer %26amp; Wine Festival and FloydFest. Floyd is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Parkway; it%26#39;s a very artsy-hippie area with a heavy dose of redneck thrown in to keep it real. If you vacation here, you%26#39;ll be telling your grandkids about it. Any Friday night you won%26#39;t want to miss the Floyd Country Store. People come from everywhere to hear a variety of bluegrass bands; there are also musicians playing in the street and if you bring your guitar or banjo or fiddle or harmonica, you%26#39;ll be welcome to join in. You won%26#39;t be able to help yourself -- you%26#39;ll want to try flat-footin%26#39; with the locals. It%26#39;s great -- really! Read about it at floydvirginia.com. I%26#39;m also giving you my Go List:

Thanks for your suggestions so far. We have people coming from NY and people coming from SC and we%26#39;re pretty open to any suggestions to locations you can give us.
By %26#39;not outdoorsy%26#39; I take you mean as in hiking the Appalachian Trail? You all might enjoy Charlottesville and it%26#39;s pretty central for your group. There are vineyards, the great Downtown Mall, which is a brick paved closed road with shops on two sides for many blocks. So no vehicles. Lots of antique books, unique handmade jewelry, good restaurants, shows, art.
Those interested could take a look at the Blue Ridge Parkway coming or going...even 81 provides beautiful scenery, farms, cows and it%26#39;s in between two mt. ranges.
We liked Clifton Inn just outside Charlottesville. There are also several versions of accommodations on old Virginia estates and log cabins here:

Hi littlel1,
Have you checked out Virginia%26#39;s Tourism website, www.virginia.org? It has such a wealth of information. Here is a link catered to the region of VA you mentioned visiting. There are also tabs for places to stay- from hotels, to B%26amp;Bs, to lodges, to vacation homes, to resorts, etc. You can also click through the tabs of specific activities or themes that might interest you- from shopping, to dining, to tours, to nightlife, special events, etc. You can also search for specials %26amp; packages that will be available during your stay. I live in VA %26amp; I use this site all the time!
Whoops, forgot to attach the link to the specific page of the site I mentioned.
