Hello everyone,
I have been greatly enjoying all you reviews and suggestions. I have question however, if anyone would be able to help me out I will be staying in the Peter Hay%26#39;s kitchen and was wondering if there is a fridge and about the other amenities, the lady I spoke to was not too sure. Also I made dinner reservations for 7:30 the last available, will I be getting hte same service if I had made them earlier? Please advise
Thank you sooo much. In addition I would really like to maybe picninc in the historic area any good serene places tucked away that we can take advantage of? Sorry for being all over the place with the questions.
Thanks again

I believe the Peter Hay%26#39;s Kitchen has a kitchenette (sink, small fridge/perhaps stovetop/microwave). This is a link to a downloadable brochure on the Colonial Houses, and the Peter Hay Kitchen appears to have an area on the first floor for the kitchenette (see page 17): colonialwilliamsburgresort.com/files/ColHous…
Dinner reservation at a tavern? You will get the same service for the dinner reservation as you would if it were earlier. There are many little garden areas tucked away that would make nice picnic spots. You%26#39;ll have a lovely time!

We have stayed in the Peter Hay Kitchen twice. If nothing has changed since our last time there, there will be a kitchenette with small refrigerator and (I think) a two-burner stove. Williamsburg has many lovely gardens...when you get there, check out the garden behind your house for your picnic. If that doesn%26#39;t suit, you could always get lunch at Aromas or the Cheese Shop in Merchant Square and take a drive along the Colonial Parkway. There are several places to pull off and picnic along the James River. If you are speaking of dinner at one of the taverns, you will be fine.
Great thank you yes I did see that space in the house however the representative that I spoke with was unsure what that included. The last time I was there was when I was about ten about 13 years ago or so....I am sooo excited and cannot wait to get there. I will be there the weekend of may22 to may26 form what I understand there will be an art festival going on. Do you know anything about this?
Oh coool I asked the lady if there was a garden by the house and she said no. wooo hoo I am such a sucker for little things like that. Well thank you very much. Do you happen to know when you want a fire in the fireplace how you go about getting one and how long does it take from the time you request it? In addition do you think I will be able to get in ealrier than 4:00 check-in (provided your experiences) Thanks for everything!
I should have looked at the colonial homes online before I replied. There is an ADA bathtub downstairs that was not there when we rented the house, so I am not sure what space was eliminated. If you want a fire, call the number listed, tell them what time you would like it, and someone will come and set it up for you. We have been able to get in the homes early each time we have been there. If not, park your car at the Inn (make sure you get your parking tag), and walk to CW to start your visit. The Hay Kitchen has its own parking area behind the house that you will be able to use once you are registered. When we were there in March, we had to register at the Inn. I am not sure if the registration procedures will be the same in May.
I don%26#39;t know anything about the art show. I think one of the locals will be sure to help you out with that. You are going to be there at a wonderful time...have fun.
Check-in for the Colonial Houses has been, recently, in a dedicated building, (which old-timers will remember as the former home of The Craft Shop). It is just to the west of the Inn and just to the east of the Lodge. Look for the pair of large bay windows. The street is South England Street, and there is a parking lot.
Whoever could not answer your question about the amenities of your rooms should have offered to find out and call you back. I%26#39;d call again and press for an answer. There are a lot of reservationists and some have more experience than others, but whether or not yours could answer off the top of her head, there are layers and layers of hospitality management over her....
Have a beautiful time!
Not to dispute nomo, but when we were there from March 28-April 2, the Craft House registration for the colonial houses was closed. That%26#39;s why we had to register at the Inn. Perhaps with the spring season the Craft House will be open for registration again. If I were staying at one of the colonial homes, I would call to make sure where check-in is located.
