We are going to see Wicked on Sunday at Chrysler Hall and staying one night at the Sheraton waterside. Need suggestions for restuarants appropriate for adults and kids - including a breakfast idea. Other than nauticus -what other attractions are nearby? Thank you.
Chrysler Hall - nearby attractions %26amp; restaurantsMy daughter works in Norfolk and loves D%26#39;Egg on E. Main (you%26#39;ll be able to walk there, I think). For dinner, there are some good places right in McArthur Mall (Max %26amp; Erma%26#39;s, Cheesecake Factory, Johnny Rockets). Hell%26#39;s Kitchen on Granby has good food - you might look at the website to see if looks ok for your family. The Bodega is a tapas place, and the food is wonderful. Freemason Abbey is always good, and they do have a children%26#39;s menu. For Italian, Sirena Cucina. Well, that%26#39;s a start. There are tons of places along Granby.
In addition to Nauticus, check the free tour of the Battleship Wisconsin. Or look into a harbor tour on the Carrie B. The Norfolk Tides are at home - 1:15 game on Sunday - always a great day at Harbor Park. Other attractions are the McArthur Memorial (zzzz unless you have a family of history buffs) and Chrysler Museum. If you%26#39;re looking to kill time, ride the ferry over to Portsmouth - it%26#39;s cheap, it%26#39;s a short ride. Check out downtown Portsmouth - there%26#39;s a Children%26#39;s Museum, Sports Hall of Fame, and lots of antique shops.
Chrysler Hall - nearby attractions %26amp; restaurantsA few more places to consider......
Breakfast or lunch at Yorgo%26#39;s Bageldashery (real bagels!) 22nd %26amp; Colonial Ave about 10 minutes from downtown, great food, local favorite, location downtown also but closed on Sunday.
Lunch or dinner, if you like pizza or Greek food (or Greek pizza) try another locals fav, the Orapax at Redgate %26amp; Orapax in Ghent only 5 minutes from Sheraton.
Depending on kids ages, consider Virginia Zoo or a trip to Botanical Gardens (tram tour) might be nice if gardens interest you...family of eagles are nesting there (webcam available), last I heard 3 babies but there are huge! Check them out on
norfolkbotanicalgarden.org/e-community/eagle…
If you will be in Norfolk this weekend, 5/16 %26amp; 5/17, you may want to consider a visit to the Stockley Gardens Art Show in Ghent. The event is a locals favorite and appeals to all ages. Art, music, food (darn those hot, yummy funnel cakes!). If interested, check out the website, www.hope-house.org/arts/stockley-gardens/
