Alexandria Taxis

Does anyone know the agency in charge of regulating taxi fares? The fares are posted right inside the taxi and I noticed a number on the bottom which is an agency to report fraud. We had a driver who told us some story about evening %26#39;surcharges%26#39; and added extras to his meter that did not add up. I called the Alexandria Taxi company that night and they told me someone would contact me the next day. That was over a week ago and I don%26#39;t want this to happen to someone else. Any help you could give would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I poked around our city website. Sorry it sounds like you may have been ripped off. Try the link below as it belongs to, what I believe is the correct division responsible for reporting. If it isn%26#39;t...they ought to be able to direct you to the proper source. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the link, I will definitely pursue this further, it was so wrong what he did. Thanks again!

First of all, thanks for going through the trouble of saving someone like me that same aggravation. That kind of thing will kill tourism in an area. I also suggest that you contact the local Chamber of Commerce/Visitor%26#39;s Bureau. They will also want to know what company this guy worked for and how it was handled.

Can anyone tell me if cabs run all night? I%26#39;m just thinking in case we go downtown and stay for awhile. I don%26#39;t know how long the hotel shuttle runs. That was a big reason we booked our hotel. Thanks!

HI, Yes the cabs run all night. Just don%26#39;t pay the %26#39;night%26#39; surcharge. :)

The hotel shuttle we used did not always go where we wanted to go downtown so we did use the taxis a lot. Only got the one dishonest driver and I know he%26#39;ll have to answer for it based on all the great contacts you have all advised me to contact.

My search of our city%26#39;s web site shows that you want to contact the Hack Inspector’s Office

Charm,

You are the best! I plan on utilizing all the information you gathered. I had seen an agency to contact while I was in the taxi but this was the last taxi we had taken while on vacation and I was assured by the taxi company that someone would call me back regarding my experience....

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!

Best,

Dawn
