My husband and I are planning a first-time trip to Williamsburg and have the opportunity to stay in a timeshare property. Which property has the nicest ammenities (we are a couple in our mid-50%26#39;s/won%26#39;t be bringing our kids)? Kings Creek Planation, Mariotts Manor Club at Ford%26#39;s Colony, Greensprings, %26amp; The Townes at Kings Creek Planation are our choices.
Also - is late April/early May usually decent weather-wise? We%26#39;ll spend a week there and maybe take a day trip to Virginia Beach.
Any info would be appreciated! Thanks1
Williamsburg timeshares - which one?
Hi, notoldyet! I can speak to your weather question. You should expect highs around 75 degrees and lows around 50 during that time of year. April (contrary to that old saw about April showers) is one of the less-rainy months in Williamsburg, although that doesn%26#39;t mean dry -- 3.24'; of rain, on average, and more in May. While I%26#39;m doing the weather forecast, I%26#39;ll throw in sunrise and sunset -- 6:15am and 8pm.
With a little luck, you%26#39;ll have the energizing spring weather we%26#39;ve all been longing for this terrible winter! Have a great time.
Williamsburg timeshares - which one?
Thanks for the reply, nomonoloco!
I%26#39;m not familar with the timeshares you mention as we own in Williamsburg w/in the Fairfield/Wyndham system. We do own week #18 (first week of May) however, and have been there three years out of the last five (including 07 and 08) and love the spring time there. It is pleasantly warm, but not oppressivey hot or humid.
Enjoy!
Spring time will be lovely there! As far as timeshares, I have exchanged into both Marriott Manor Club as well as Greensprings (I believe 2 yrs ago). I have written reviews on both. I would stay at either again, but think the Marriott was much nicer (I have not yet been to a Marriott timeshare that wasn%26#39;t great). I stayed there in February so I can%26#39;t comment on the pool, but loved the gas fireplace as well as the screened in balcony. This resort is three stories (if I remember correctly) and has elevators.
Greensprings....the resort was beautiful and clean. The 2 Br unit was spacious and nicely decorated. The recliner is to die for!!! You could actually sleep comfortably in it. It was so nice to sit and chill in the evening to watch TV in it. The beds at that time were awful, but Diamond has since purchased the resort and the beds are supposed to be changed. The beds in their Daytona Beach resort (supposed to be the same) are very, very comfy!!! This resort is three stories, but there are NO ELEVATORS. We were on the third floor (I always choose to be as close to the top as possible) and having to climb three flights of stairs with all our stuff was very tiresome. The buildings are pretty secure. You need a key to get in the building, you need a key to get in your unit%26#39;s entry way, and you also need the key to get in your unit. Probably a little overkill, but you can%26#39;t say they are lacking in security! The only bad thing I can say about the unit is that the balcony is actually a wooden deck - not covered or screened it. The one we had was in dire need of replacement. Loose boards, nail popping up, really crappy. But I would stay there again!
Both places were nestled in the woods and off the beaten path - which was very peaceful and gorgeous!
Both places were easy to access and had grocery stores nearby.
I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be happy in either place.
I think we%26#39;re going to go with the Marriott property, and will post a review when we return. Thanks for the feedback.
Do you know if the marriot is close Water Country USA? Also, how did you get your rental for marriot timeshare? Does the marriot have full kitchens?
Responding to questions about Marriott Manor Club. Be aware that there are two different halves to this resort. The older side, MMC Marriott Manor Club is entirely 2 bedroom, 2 bath units with very large living space and kitchens. The other half, Marriott Manor Club Sequel is newer, and has one bedroom units with full kitchen and living space, or a ';studio';/';lockoff'; unit which does not have a full kitchen. In the Sequel units a one bedroom and a studio can be combined together to form a 2 bedroom, 2 bath complete unit. When you make your reservation, make very sure you know what you are renting. Armed with this information, read the reviews here on Tripadvisor and you should be able to make the best choice for you and your family. It is a wonderful place but is not near Water Country. It is a fifteen minute ride to the center of CW and a little further than that from the Busch Gardens, Water Country areas. We are heading there for the 4th of July.
Hi Notoldyet,
I went to CW 3/28-4/4/09 and stayed at the Kings Creek Plantation (Townes)in a 2bdrom/2bath/3TV%26#39;s which was very spacious, full kitchen, w/pots%26amp;pans, full fridge,oven,micro/stove even toaster/blender/dishwasher,%26amp; washer/dryer, (take or buy small laundry soap because they only provide 1 small box for one load),indoor/outdoor swimming pools, exercise room and right off the freeway near presidents park/target/kohls and a water park. No housekeeping, so you will have to throw your own trash and you get plenty of towels. I was NOT disappointed w/the places, the estates at Kings Creek are newer and look really nice to my recommendation would be the Townes or Estates at Kings Creek. The do have a small convient store on grounds but not really much to buy their other than souvieners, coffee, beverages and there is also computers on grounds/internet service in the conveient store, and fitness ctr.Kings Creek is about 2-3 miles from the visitor center where you can catch the shuttles and not far from Richmond Rd, to me it was in a perfect location within 10mins from most sightseeing in CW.
I was about to answer that post when i saw the dates. Too late to influence notold. maybe we will get a report.
