which ticket?

Thanks in advance for all the advice I%26#39;m received from this forum. I trying to decide which ticket to get-the liberty ticket provides access to the bits and bridles and other walking tours, but the bounce pass is a great deal. any suggestions? are the walking tours a very good idea? also, we have tickets for the dance program, grand medley and lanthorn tour-thought I would add in Polly Honeycombe (a new show, I guess?) and the Family legends program, and maybe Papa said/Mama Said. Too many for our week long stay? I would love to see Courage or Cowardice, but don%26#39;t think my 7 and 10 yr old would follow the plot. Appreciate any advice!

which ticket?

If you got the Liberty ticket, you could go on the walking tours (no charge, but need reservations) plus get 25% off the evening programs.

You didn%26#39;t mention if you were going to visit the Jamestown or Yorktown sites, but if you are,

there is a Four-Site combo ticket, which includes, Jamestown Settlement, Historic Jamestown, Yorktown Victory Center and Yorktown Battlefield. The prices for these are $29.25/adults,$19.95/ages 13-16, $9.25/ages 6-12, under 6, no charge. Jamestown Settlement would be great for your kids, very hands on. Prices for the Settlement only are $14/adults and $6.50/ages 6-12.

Hope you take the Colonial Parkway drive. Beautiful river scenery, and pull-offs along the way.

which ticket?

Forgot to add that the Four-Site combo tickets are good for unlimited visits for 7 days. If you buy tickets seperately, they are good for just one day.

Too many programs?? I doubt it, unless the kids get a little crabby. You could just stick with the ones you already have tickets for, and then see how things are working out for your family, if they%26#39;re up to it, buy tickets on that day. Altho you might risk the chance of programs being sold out. But it%26#39;s better then buying tickets and then being too tuckered out to use them. I don%26#39;t know if you can exchange tickets for another time, anybody know about that?

I did read your post from March and see that you are considering all the historic triangle sites--that%26#39;s great, you won%26#39;t be sorry.

thanks so much for the help; we are so excited about our trip!

And I am very excited for you!! Right before you get to the Jamestown Island site, stop at The Glassblowers exhibit. This is very interesting. There are costumed interpreters who blow glass objects. There is a tiny little gift area where you can purchase these items. There is a little walk-thru building showcasing the original glassblowers site that was excavated at that spot. This exhibit is included in the Historic Jamestowne Island ticket.

Keep in mind that Yorktown Battlefield and Historic Jamestowne are part of the U.S. Department of Interior National Park system. So, if you have a National Park Pass, there is no need for an additional ticket to visit these two sites.

Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center are run by the Jamestown-- Yorktown Foundation, which is different from the national park sites.

The Liberty Pass is needed to do any of the special walking tours which are focused on aspects of CW that would be of most interest to adults. Bits and Bridles is not a petting zoo but an opportunity to see rare breeds, learn of their place in 18th century life, and the elaborate carriages close up. That pass would give you a 25% discount on all the evening programs you have reserved. Any other programs you may want to wait until arrival to purchase, so as not to over-extend yourselves. The special focus tours must also be booked upon arrival and are not reserved in advance. The Bounce pass includes CW and Busch Gardens (open only on weekends at this time)and will include Water Country starting last weekend in May. If you are planning on visiting these sites plus Jamestown/Yorktown as well, you will want to purchase the Flex Pass which is good for an entire week and provides unlimited visits to all 7 sites.

We visited Williamsburg a year ago. Friends just decided to go this month and I%26#39;m trying to help them with this last minute trip. I%26#39;m very confused about tickets because saw on program listings that you needed the Freedom or Independence pass (which I%26#39;m sure is what we had) and I%26#39;m only finding the Liberty Pass. Has the LP replaced Freedom and Independence? Is there a pass for CW, and Jamestown/Yorktown areas for a week? They are not interested in Busch Gardens. Thanks for help!!

The Freedom Pass is now the Liberty Pass. This is good for CW only, for 1 year. You get 25% off evening programs with this pass.

The Historic Triangle pass includes CW, the 2 Jamestown Sites and 2 Yorktown Sites, unlimited visits for 7 days. No discount for CW evening programs.

Check out history.org. Maybe some of the posts here might help you out, too. Hope you find what you are looking for. It can get confusing. from Mary
