Is this hotel right across from Railroad Tracks? If so, are they active and will it impact sleeping. Didn%26#39;t see anything on reviews.

Yes there are still railroad tracks across the street and they are active. I stayed there and was not bothered by them at all. The hotel is well insulated

Is it commuter? freight? or both?
Freight and passenger (Amtrak).
Sounds like fun. Thanks.
The concern about railroad track comes up frequently on this forum. As we have mentioned before, the train track runs right through the center of Williamsburg. Therefore, any of the lodging properties that are convenient to the center of towm or the historic area are also near the tracks.
There are at least two Amtrak trains per day, along with a number of coal freights. They are distracting to some, and not heard at all by others. Trying to stay away from the trains means staying away from Williamsburg. So the best advice this local can give is come on in to town, choose your lodging based on what is best for your budget and your activities, and don%26#39;t worry about the trains! They really are not disruptive.
Upon further reflection, I%26#39;m not concerned. I love trains. grew up with them as a kid. all our summer vacations revolved around trains. my dad is a rail fan.
While we have stayed at hotels where you can hear the trains, we have never heard them at the Embassy Suites. It%26#39;s actually our favorite place to stay when we%26#39;re in Williamsburg - it%26#39;s reasonably priced, great location, and very clean!
thanks. i made the reservation yesterday.
