Transportation in Williamsburg

We are staying at the Hampton Inn in June. We will have two older adults with us so I suspect walking the mile to Colonial Williamsburg might be a bit much. Is there public transportation to and from the hotel to Colonial Williamsburg?

I think there%26#39;s 3 or 4 different Hampton Inns here in town. I%26#39;m guessing you%26#39;re staying at the one located on Capitol Landing. It%26#39;s not a bad walk at all has Capitol Landing dead ends into Colonial Wmbg. However, if you have some older guests than it may be too much in the June heat. I see shuttle buses around CW all the time. Your best bet is to call the hotel directly and inquire if they offer a shuttle service. My guess would be that they do.

Public transport exists in Williamsburg. Williamsburg Area Transit runs the bus service. Depending on which Hampton Inn you%26#39;ll be at, that might be an option. We also have taxis. I would be surprised if Hampton Inn provided a shuttle, but you can call and ask. How do you plan to come to Williamsburg? If flying, the most convenient way to get around is by renting a car. It can be done without one, but it isn%26#39;t easy or convenient. If you don%26#39;t want to rent a car, the best place to stay is in one of the official Colonial Williamsburg hotels.

Echoing Zoey%26#39;s suggestion, the best way to get around is by rental car. They are, of course, available at the airports which saves the cost of limo service to and from Williamsburg. Once you arrive you may wish to tour the area, shop at the outlet malls, dine at local resutaurants, etc, and a rental car is the easiest way to get around.

Enjoy your visit.

We are driving so we will have a car. Since we are about a mile away from Colonial Williamsburg we can walk, just want to make sure I some other options in case the moms get tired.

Not sure why you want to walk a mile to CW, you will walk that and more when you are in it. Plus good size parking lot at CW Vistor Center, and shuttles from there to various stops in CW. Lot may be more busy in June but plenty of space last week

I know if my kids insisted I walked a mile to get to CW I would not like it. Not sure what you mean by older adults but we have 25 year old grandchild.

I agree with the previous posters. You can drive to the CW Visitor center, park there and take the shuttle to Colonial Williamsburg. There%26#39;s also parking behind the Merchant%26#39;s Square shopping area if you want to shop or eat. Have fun, I was there yesterday to get my Cheese Shop veggie sandwich fix!

The restored area is, as you probably know, a mile long and half a mile wide and the perimeter shuttle service makes only about 10 widely-spaced stops, so park-and-shuttle, or hike-from-the-hotel, you all are in for plenty of walking.

Don%26#39;t forget to pack the comfort shoes, sun/rain protection, and personal water. And go, seniors!
