Hotel near Ghent area or Granby St

We are planning on stopping in Norfolk for one night as a stopover from Boston to OBX. We will most likely arrive to Norfolk around 8pm. Looking for a hotel within walking distance to good restaurants and bars (we prefer bars to clubs). We would like to spend under $200. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be Downtown Norfolk, look at the 2 Marriott%26#39;s (Waterside and Courtyard) and Sheraton, I%26#39;m not sure of rates. All are an easy walk to great bars/restaurants. Unfortunately, there are no hotels within walking distance of the Ghent area. The closest hotel to Ghent (other than Downtown hotels) is Springhill Suites on Hampton Blvd at Old Dominion University, not recommended walking distance. Good luck and enjoy the area.

Cool, GREAT price! You%26#39;ll love the view, the Sheraton is on the Elizabeth River...usually lots of interesting boat/ship traffic. Downtown Portsmouth is across the river, if you have time (unlikely if arriving at 8pm) take the ferry for a 10 minute ride across, visit Roger Brown%26#39;s Sports Bar. Lots of wonderful bars and restaurants on Granby St w/in walking distance of Sheraton. Use the crosswalks crossing Waterside Dr (street traffic quite busy %26amp; deceptive speed) or overhead walkway from parking garage located at Waterside Dr and Atlantic Ave.
