I%26#39;ve been looking around on several sites and most of the reviews and questions regaurding camping at Virginia Beach are outdated.
I%26#39;m looking for a camping site oceanfront or close to the beach (within 5 miles) and at good prices with water %26amp; electrictricy. Reviews and suggestions are more than welcome I just need some kind of an idea as to what to be looking for when I think of camping at this location.
Oceanfront VA Beach Camping?
The state park is the only place I know of that has actual oceanfront camping. There are cabins or you can tent or rv camp. You%26#39;ll read on the site that swimming is at your own risk as there are no lifeguards at this part of the beach.

The KOA campground is close to the beach. I%26#39;ve never camped there, so I can%26#39;t offer any first hand info. You can ride the Wave (trolley) between the campground and resort area.

Oceanfront VA Beach Camping?
I would recommend First Landing State Park over the KOA and other campgrounds off of General Booth Blvd. First Landing is at a beach, where the others are right off of a busy street. So instead of hearing the birds and crickets, you are going to hear cars and sirens. First Landing is well preserved, and they have camping, RV parking, and cabins. Hope this helps!
and bring your bikes as there%26#39;s a great bike trail thru first landing on the other side of shore drive.
but, correct me if I%26#39;m wrong Wendy, KOA is really the only ';ocean'; campground. First Landing is really on the Chesapeake Bay, isn%26#39;t it?
bday, I guess I was thinking beachfront, regardless of ocean or bay. KOA fit the OP%26#39;s requirements of being within 5 miles of the beach.
totally agree, just wanted to clarify in case erintucker was looking for a more ';wavey'; kind of experience in the water:)
not sure when you%26#39;re coming, but I%26#39;m doing a cleanup at KOA the first weekend in May so if you want me to check specific site numbers for you just let me know! We%26#39;re tent campers ourselves with no water or electricity needs so let me know what you%26#39;re looking for...
and although this is off-topic - if you have a boat, you really should look into camping at Kerr Lake in North Bend park - it%26#39;s amazing!
