Mimslyn Inn haunted?

Has anybody heard rumor the Mimsly Inn being haunted? I stayed there in 2003 but quickly left due to a few unsettling experiences

Mimslyn Inn haunted?

I live in Luray. My mother was born and raised here as were her parents, grandparents and grandparents generations back. I have never heard the Mimslyn was haunted, never had any unsettling experiences while dining or at parties there. Sorry, Denise

Mimslyn Inn haunted?

Yes, I have heard alot about this. Supposedly Mrs. Mims commited suicide. I have a friend who worked there and refused to go back to the basement. I was there for a wedding and was walking down the hallway and had a strange experience. It is now shut down for remodel.

My daddy worked there in 60%26#39;s and he says that he used to serve up beer in the basement to patrons playing ping pong, and the basement was scary, but he never saw anything.

yeah well i worked there for almost a year using the basement all the time to bring up and take down tables, chairs, and various other materials. I never saw anything, but there were a few strange things that happened when i was working alone. Once a door went from beeing completely opened and slammed shut when i was walking to the elevator, i quickly jumped in the elevator and didnt go back down for the rest of the night. Also there was a spot in the wall, where various pipes were, that was opened but it was far back in so you couldnt see anything but a bit of gleaming metal on occasion, well everytime i would walk by, something would cut on, the pipes would start to be filled with water or whatever it was that flowed through them, then on my way back past them they would shut off. This happened everytime i walked by the wall when i had no company with me while i was working. as far as sightings, no there was nothing. It has just opened back up after almost a year of rennovations. It is now a 3 diamond hotel that includes a 5 star dinning room. A far cry from what it use to be, although the historic value has been completely contained because very few changes in building layout were changed.

The Mimslyn Inn is currently being remodeled. It is open for guests now on the 1st floor, but there is still a lot of construction and banging going on. The construction workers say the 3rd floor is haunted. Most of them don%26#39;t like the 3rd floor at all and find it creepy. They said a door shut one time up there by itself and that%26#39;s it as far as scary stories. The basement is being redone right now, and is not really creepy, except for a few parts of it. I got an errie feeling in room #306 and in one corner of the basement. A few people say a man murdered his wife and children there a long time ago but I am searching and finding no info on that at all---If anyone knows anything about that, I would love to read about it!:)

Man, this is messed up with all these stories of doors shutting, slamming and creepy sounds, now I%26#39;m hearing this in rooms too! Jezz, I%26#39;m getting married in a year and already put my deposite down for the wedding and staying there for the night before our honey moon starts, great way to be prepared, huh! Hopefully, before my wedding the Hotel finds more cases and decides to call the Ghost Busters or even better give me a complementry parachute, because if I see one so baby, I%26#39;m jumping out the window and meeting you on the plane the next morning, ';dont do ghost or sprits';!

My fiance and I stayed there a few years ago and had a few unexplained experiences. The bathroom door would open if we left it closed and would close if we left it open. We would go to bed and wake up with the bathroom light on. We%26#39;d get up, turn it off, go back to sleep and it would be on again when we woke up. Other than that and a really unsettling feeling I got when I walked down the hallway, nothing else happened.

Beautiful place though!

I honestly think my house is haunted. It was built atop an old mill. Sometimes we hear very loud foot-steps in the upstairs bedroom (when no one is there). The attic entry way has been opened (you need a ladder and serious heft to get that open) a couple times...had the police investigate that one..they found nothing. Have had things disappear and reappear in the exact same spot months later...just strange things. Doesn%26#39;t happen all the time and it%26#39;s not enough to get me to leave my house.

So given that, I think you%26#39;d be fine to stay in a haunted inn...if anything it could give you some interesting stories to tell =)

I work at the Mimslyn and have for over 2 years now, I have had several encounters with ';ghost'; especially durring the rennovation. My boss and I have had an encounter together which we saw a man, dressed in an early 50%26#39;s looking tux, walking with his back towards us down the stairs on the 3rd floor, it happend every hour from 10- 1 am. thats when we left. One of the other very interesting things that has happend to me was when the kitchen and all was closed at 10 pm, the lights were all off.. and I was at the swinging doors that go into the kitchen, the refrigerator opend slowly, stayed open for about 5 seconds, then closed. It is a very fun place to be at night, especially in the attic, thats a pretty creepy place, Im up there alot cause I work on the AC units and the only light is from the windows and a flashlight. I always have the feeling of somone standing right behind me up there and can feel there foot steps on the walk boards behind me. Very Strange and creepy place!
