Hey experts! My husband and I are coming to VaBeach with our little one the week of memorial day (M-F). We%26#39;ve booked Ocean Suites (rolling the dice a little there) but that%26#39;s as far as we%26#39;ve gotten. And advice on what to do near by - what%26#39;s toddler-friendly/exhausted parent-friendly? ;-) Any advice would be appreciated! thx!
Memorial Day week with a 15 month oldYou%26#39;re coming at the perfect time. Beach Street USA should be starting offering all kinds of free entertainment along the Boardwalk. Depending on whether you%26#39;re in town for the official Memorial Day or the REAL one, look for the Great American Backyard BBQ as part of the salute to America or the Patriotic Festival.
There are play areas at various points along the Boardwalk. Your toddler might enjoy parts of the Aquarium and Marine Science Center. You can rent bikes and ride the Boardwalk, or try the 4-wheeled family bikes.
There are plenty of good spots to stop for drinks and icecream. Bring plenty of sunscreen for the baby! (and for yourselves)
Memorial Day week with a 15 month oldI am not sure I would stay at Ocean Suites. We had stayed at Station One which is right next door to Ocean suites (used to be Ambassador Suites) and it looked a little seedy to us. Station One is now Comfort Inn at the Beach. It is right between Ocean suites and the Life Saving museum and 24th street park. I haven%26#39;t stayed at Station One (Comfort Inn) yet this year, but am hoping to. I know they are all suites and the suites are larger than Ocean suites. Comfort Inn also offers a free continental breakfast, and their pool is a lot nicer (you can look down from the Comfort Inn pool area into the Ocean Suites pool). Just my opinion though.
We really debated on the hotel - we preferred a suite or a room with a divider just because of the little one, and a kitchenette would be really nice because of budget (also, indirectly %26#39;cause of the little one, kids are expensive! ;-)). We needed to stay around or under the $100 a night mark, so all that limited our options pretty dramatically. Goodness knows we are open to suggestions...
The Comfort Inn at the beach, you said they are suite set ups? I can%26#39;t find any good info on their website as to what that means exactly...
They were Station One Hotel before becoming a Comfort Inn. If you search for that hotel, or I THINK if you click on my name, you can see the pixs I posted of Station One (Comfort Suites). You can tell by the outside of the hotels that the suites at Comfort Inn are larger than the ones at Ocean Suites. All of the rooms are oceanfront with a balcony off the living room. There are 2 tvs...one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The bedroom is completely separate, with a door...with 2 double beds (I think they have queen (or king) suites too with just one bed). They have a full sized refridgerator, microwave, coffee maker...PLUS they offer free breakfast in the mornings in the area that used to be a full service restaurant on the 4th floor. The bathroom is also separate and fairly good sized.
You can try this link...it SHOULD take you to my photos.

Have you tried this...click on the %26#39;hotels%26#39; option here on the left. Then click to sort by price. It%26#39;ll do low to high.
This should take you to my review of Comfort Inn at the beach (formerly Station One hotel).
