I have two kids 12 and 8 and never have been to Virginia Beach. Going to start in D.C. and head over to the beach for some fun for them. Is there an area that will be less crowded? I was thinking the north end. Any help would be appreciated!

Is there a less crowded area of the beach?Yeah, the northern part of the beach is less crowded. If you don%26#39;t need waves, go to the Chesapeake Bay.
Is there a less crowded area of the beach?Yes, the north end is where the locals go-make sure you adhere to the no parking signs and not block peoples driveways. Be aware that there are no lifeguards.
Is there a moderately price hotel in that area? I do not want ot spend $225 a night!
Check out the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center. They usually have pretty good prices. We have had people stay there when our crowd was too big for our condo and haven%26#39;t ever had a problem.
There is a hotel at 57th street.. I think its a Marriott? But that end of the beach is nice and open and no crowds. But like the previous post please keep in mind there are no lifeguards! You could always go around 3rd-9th street.. not too crowded down there either and more hotels to choose from.
Is the area around The Bellvedere Hotel busy?
The Belvedere is around 36th %26amp; Atlantic on the boardwalk/oceanfront. It is located in the northern section of the boardwalk so it%26#39;s a bit quieter but just a short walk to the music stage and play area around 31th St. The busiest areas of the boardwalk are between about 15th St and 31th St. Your kids are likely to enjoy the entire boardwalk. The beach is less crowded at each end (of the boardwalk) but there is usually plenty of room almost anywhere. Because of rip currents and general safety, I suggest staying in an area of the beach with lifeguards. The ';north end'; of Va Beach is off the boardwalk (approx. Sts 47-83) in a residential area with limited public parking and beach access; it%26#39;s a nice, less crowded area but no lifeguards. The Va Beach Resort Convention Center is nice, located on Shore Drive less than 15 minute drive to resort strip and on the Chesapeake Bay. To get a good idea of the resort area layout, read ';Getting Around'; in the Virginia Beach section under ';Before You Go'; in the left shaded colunm on this page.
Your kids may also enjoy a visit to First landing State Park, there is an entrance at 64th St and one on Shore Drive. Great trails for hiking or biking, lots of adventure opportunities. Check out www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fir.shtml for park map and trail descriptions, post again if you have more questions.
Happy trails
