I am torn between Spring Hill Suites and the Cavalier on the Ocean - Spring Hill is @ $600 more at end of June when we want to go. Is it worth the extra $600? Cavalier seems to have a lot of family activities and play areas - please advise!
Hotel with Young Kids
We stayed at the Cavalier on the Ocean several years ago and the programs for the little ones were good...but we haven%26#39;t had recent experience.
We have enjoyed Springhill Suites several times since it opened.
It%26#39;s in a good location as far as places to eat, things to see along the boardwalk, not far from Beachstreet USA, near partiuclarly one nightly entertainment stage. The indoor pool is nice but as far as pools go we like the outdoor one. It%26#39;s a little glamorous with those spouts of water shooting out along the sides, the handy snack bar and the fact that the pool is on a lot beside the Springhill complex and therefore is always in the sun...if the pool were behind the hotel then the hotel would block the sun.
Maybe someone will add to these comments with recent on Cavalier on the ocean.
I do notice, as you probably have, in reading the first page of reviews on the Cavalier on the ocean that all the truly negative angry ones were by one time commenters, while those people who have a history of writing reviews were more middle of the road.
Hotel with Young Kids
Hi,
We stayed at the Cavalier a few years ago, as well, and liked it very much. Just like the previous repsonse, the children%26#39;s programs were nice, but we especially like the location. There was a lifeguard on the beach in front of the hotel, and the beach is definitely less crowded than the Spring Hill Suites. Transportation is not a problem, as the trolley stops near the hotel, so you can get to any restaurant you want without having to drive. My vote goes to the Cavalier, especially looking at the $$. If you book, be sure to specify the ';new'; Cavalier, which is on the ocean, as opposed to the historic hotel which is up on the hill, and a little bit of a hike to the beach.
Enjoy!
Kathryn
