Hi,
I%26#39;m looking for horseback riding on the beach. I cannot find any companies available on the dates from April 18th to the 21st. This is not for a group, just for my girlfriend and I.
I%26#39;d like it to be somewhat close to Charlottesville, VA. I%26#39;m willing to go out to Virginia Beach as I assume there must be some company out there that can provide this service.
Can someone please point me to a company that they think can help?
Horseback riding on the beachTrying to understand what you might be looking for. So you%26#39;re saying you%26#39;d like to ride somewhat close to Charlottesville and want to ride on the beach. And you say you%26#39;re %26#39;willing%26#39; to go to VB and seem to be having trouble finding something closer?
Do you know VB is 3 hours from Charlottesville?
Just to be clear...do you want the Charlottesville area or do you want VB....or perhaps the closest beach?
There are trail rides in Charlotesville area. You might see if they%26#39;d do one with just two. I don%26#39;t know how the insurance differs from place to place but I know of a lot of facility owners who have lots of restrictions...helmet, walk only. I know of several facilities who stopped doing this over the years because of insurance issues and expense.
If you want to be closer to Charltotesvlle with views but not beach you might look at http://www.lanternlanefarm.com/ They tailor rides.
Jordon Hollow Farm and Stables is in a gorgeous location...but they%26#39;re the other side of the mountains if that%26#39;s okay.
This place is in a different area if you want to change from being in Charlottesville. The are on water and I know at one point they had stables. Doesn%26#39;t say that on their site that I could see in a quick look but you can check: http://www.edentide.com/
For around Charlottesville you might see if these people can help with the horseback riding issue. They have wonderful accommodations of all different types in the Charlottesville area:

Horseback riding on the beachUnless you%26#39;re one of the mounted policeman of Virginia Beach, you won%26#39;t be riding a horse anywhere near the beach. It just doesn%26#39;t happen around here. Sorry. It does sound nice though.
thank you all for writing back!
I have found a solution. As I%26#39;d like to keep it a surprise, I will spill details after the occasion. Look for a post on the 22nd!
Looking forward to hearing your solution and how it all went.
They are having horseback riding on the beach next weekend april 10 through the 12. Its on 30th street. Its $45 a person but you get to ride in the beach. They have a number you can call to reserve its 757-288-5470. So I hope i could have helped you out.
they also had it over Easter weekend. I was shocked to see horses on the beach. Thought it was a great idea but I was surprised I hadn%26#39;t seen it in the paper. They also did a great job of keeping the poop off the beach! THe horses were all wearing ';diapers'; :)
Horseback riding on the beach will be starting on the day after Labor Day at 30th St in Virginia Beach. We tried to get the summer contract but it didn%26#39;t work. But Sept 2, it will be there!
Your posting was from last year, but I am inquiring if you do horseback riding on the beach? I will be visiting my cousin in VA Beach on March 7th and 8th 2009 and interested in horseback ridinng on the beach. My email is dscatdak@aol.com.
Thank you.

In general, you should start a new thread rather than dredge up an old one that the original poster and responders have lost interest in.
Here is the city code:
Sec. 6-12. Riding horses or driving vehicles on beach or dunes.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to ride a horse or any other animal or to operate or drive a vehicle of any kind on the public beaches or upon the sand dunes within the city, except that area between the ocean and sand dunes south of the exit ramp at the southern end of Little Island Recreation Park (now being used as a public way to commute back and forth to a place of residence).
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to the police mounted patrol.
Of course, it is possible to obtain a permit for special events.
I have lived here my entire life, and spent alot of time at the beach, and never saw horseback riding on the beach. That is until this past summer. I noticed when I was at work one day (I work at the Oceanfront) and was shocked. I don%26#39;t know the details or if it is just an off season thing, but it has happened in recent history!
I know that you cannot have dogs on the beach from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so I think this might apply to horses too...? Good luck!
