Another road trip in the planning stages beginning Cape May, NJ to Savannah, GA returning via Va Beach. Is this feasible? Cape May Ferry to Washington, DC (perhaps a stop at St. Michaels, MD); then onto SNP to Williamsburg. Question is getting to Savannah from Williamsburg? Planning on returning from Savannah to VA Beach before heading onto Cape May-Lewes Ferry for home. Other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks again to all of you.

What kind of help are you looking for? MapQuest will get you directions for Williamsburg to Savannah. It%26#39;s around 500 miles, 8-hour drive.
Coming from Savannah to Virginia Beach and then north, you may want to stay on US-13 for the Eastern Shore. Maybe a stop at Chincoteague/Assateague would appeal?
Help! Road trip from Cape May-Williamsburg-Savannah
Why Va Beach? if not for a special reason such as visiting family/friends there are so many better beaches between Savannah and Williamsburg.
Why the ferry (not to DC - have you seen the ferry route?) if it is part of the fun of the drive go for it - it takes more time and costs more, the drive can be interesting.
Drive to savannah from williamsburg is easy, no question really, I%26#39;m not sure what you%26#39;re asking?
how long is this trip, how many nights will you spend at wach location?
If you are going to take the ferry, I%26#39;d just go straight down the Eastern Shore and then up to Wmsbg. We take that route all the time from Williamsburg to Stone Harbor.
:) Sorry for the confusion; I%26#39;m not sure what I%26#39;m asking either. All your suggestions are helping me decide. The only reason for VA Beach was that family has a condo there and perhaps it would be a good overnight spot before heading back to Cape May. As to number of days, I was thinking of a long weekend - Thursday to Tuesday. I usually research trips %26amp; cities abroad; this is my first US road trip. Thanks again and sorry for confusing all you great trip advisors.
You really mean ';Road Trip'; don%26#39;t you? All you will be doing for 5 days is driving! Do you want to visit anyplace or just drive to, through, and back? The Cape May Ferry does not go to DC but to Lewes, DE. A stop at St. Michaels is a great idea, but a few hours at least, a day better. From there down the Eastern Shore to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to VA Beach. A condo there would be great for an overnight stay. Williamsburg is only an hour away but anything less than a couple of days%26#39; stay in the area is not enough time for a visit. Savannah is 8 hours away down I-95 from Williamsburg but is an old historic city that takes several days to see properly. You may want to scale your itinery back a bit or allow yourself more days vacation.
