Easter In Williamsburg

I%26#39;m a William and Mary student and food-lover whose family is coming to visit this Easter.

I%26#39;m in charge of planning places to eat for dinner and our Easter Sunday Brunch (long standing-family tradition). The only stipulation I have from the family is a buffet that is (preferably) not at Kingsmill. Suggestions?

As for dinner: We%26#39;ve eaten at Food for Thought before and always like that. Any other delicious (and not too expensive/or ';chain restaurant';) places for dinner in the area? I%26#39;ve heard some good things about Carrot Tree, Fat Canary, Riverwalk in Yorktown, and Second Street Grill...(confirmation of that?)

Thanks so much!

How about one of the buffets at Colonial Williamsburg - the Inn or the Lodge?

Other places to try in addition to the above mentioned...La Yaca (not inexpensive but good value), the Aberdeen Barn for beef, and I still like Berrett%26#39;s for seafood. Soya and Five Forks Diner are unique and pretty good, too.

Thanks for the tips-

any suggestions for family members with a sweet tooth?

why not kingsmill?

buffet options are limited - see if radisson/crowne plaze still has a buffeti like outdoor patio at nick%26#39;s - perfect for burgers - weather must agree

for non-chain if you want great Q look at hog wild near anderson%26#39;s corenr, not fancy, true Q with sauces on the side.

greene leafe cafe in new town offers a varied and not expensive menu.

second street bistor is a favorite - no buffet, the menu is good, a little priceir than something like greene leafe, deservedly so.

Sweet tooth? The world-renowned Death by Chocolate at the Trellis. 7 layers of chocolate goodness! You may already be familiar with the many dessert offerings at Aromas, and it%26#39;s a good place for lunch, too.

Great suggestions thus far, thanks!

Williamsburg Inn sounded good until I saw the $59 price tag for brunch...If I%26#39;m not looking to break the bank, how%26#39;s Seasons Restaurant%26#39;s Sunday brunch versus, say, the Williamsburg Lodge%26#39;s

Would do Kingsmill as we%26#39;ve had great food there but pretty rough service when we%26#39;ve eaten in the Bray dining room in recent years on vacations.

PS If anyone%26#39;s interested current Easter Brunch prices:

Williamsburg Inn: $59

Williamsburg Lodge: $42

Kingsmill: $40

Seasons Restaurant: $28

I was also just looking at Opus 9 for brunch- any good?

It has become our family tradition over the past few years to have Easter brunch/dinner at Le Yaca. They serve a 3-course, price fixe (usually $30 range) meal from noon throughout the afternoon. Their specialty, roasted lamb, is always an entree choice as is, dessert, the Chocolate Marquis and my favorite, creme brulee. The food and atmosphere combine for an excellent spot to have a family meal, moreso than a buffet. You can 757-220-3616 for more information on the menu that day.

Opus 9 is a very upscale restaurant in New Town, just a mile from downtown Williamsburg, and if it is within your price range, a great place to dine.

Thanks all.

My mom decided to give Kingsmill a second go-around (we were originally wary because of some negative experiences in the past), so I%26#39;ll report on how brunch is!

We ended up going to Kingsmill for their easter brunch buffet- the food was good! The atmosphere was excellent and their (pasta) salads were awesome! I found the buffet a little lacking in variety compared to others I%26#39;ve seen...

That being said, on that beautiful blue-sky day, the setting was unbeatable!

We also went to Food for Thought and Fat Canary- I ABSOLUTELY recommend these...Food for Thought for a wonderful (budget-friendly) meal and Fat Canary (definitely instead of Blue Talon!).
