Chicks Beach to Boardwalk

We are staying at the beach at the Chesapeake Bay and would like to visit the boardwalk -- should we drive or walk?

Is there anywhere near Chicks Beach where we can rent bicycles for the day/weekend?

Chicks Beach to Boardwalk

If you can run the Boston Marathon, then you can certainly walk to the Boardwalk; otherwise, you should be like the rest of us and drive the 25 minutes.

I know you can rent bikes at the oceanfront, but right now I%26#39;m not finding any bike rental company right IN Chicks Beach. I%26#39;m betting there is certainly something closer by, on Shore Drive perhaps. If I find something, I%26#39;ll post again. In the meantime, maybe someone else will have the answer.

Can we help with something else?

Chicks Beach to Boardwalk

Definately drive. I think the VA Beach Resort Hotel and Conferance Center rents bikes. It%26#39;s about 2 miles from Chick%26#39;s Beach. I have a place right on the other side of the Lessner Bridge from Chick%26#39;s Beach and have gotten very familiar with the area. A few places I love are Green Parrot (little divey bar and restaurant in the heart of Chicks Beach. Not extremely pricy), breakfast at Waffletown USA (also a little divey, but the best waffles and grits EVER), Chick%26#39;s Oyster Bar has very good food, but is a little more expensive (do not attempt this place on a Friday or Saturday night, however). Dockside has awesome fresh seafood, but I like the fried stuff at Chick%26#39;s better. Bubba%26#39;s is good. They have a good breakfast on Sunday%26#39;s only. Alexander%26#39;s on the Bay is ok and has a nice view, but I think it%26#39;s very average food for very high prices. Same goes for Lynnhaven Fish House. I have heard good things about Croaker%26#39;s and Hot Tuna, but haven%26#39;t been there. Taste, Inc. has very good sandwiches and box meals, cookies, etc. Finally, Crab Creek Pizza is good for delivery.

You are going to love staying near the bay - less crowded than the oceanfront and great restaurants too.

check out restaurant.com for coupons (Usually $3 at the end of the month) for a $25 value. I know HK on the Bay is usually listed. don%26#39;t let the exterior scare you away though - doesn%26#39;t look like much but good food at a decent price.

and the Leapin Lizzard Cafe is supposed to be a great little place for lunch.
