Called on food pricing from the cafe at Jamestown Settlement

I copied this from another post I made continuing a conversation I was having with Zoey on the Jamestown forum the other day. I thought people planning there trips to Jamestown who are over here in the Williamsburg forum might find it helpful in planning.

';Zoey,

I wanted you to know I did call the cafe at Jamestown Settlement to get pricing. It is really high, IMO. I do believe we will go off-site to eat.

The types of meals are ';Cheeseburger/fry/drink, pizzas, salads, etc.--The nice lady said to expect $12-$13 for adults and $6.50 for kids meals if you get a drink for them. ($4 otherwise) That%26#39;s right...drinks are $2.50. Ouch!!! If I am going to spend $90 for my family of 8 to have lunch--it%26#39;s probably going to be at a place like Chili%26#39;s.';

Hey, great, readaloud, a lot of people will like to know about that. Thanks for doing homework!! We have eaten there before. It was just 2 of us, and we really watched the prices on what we bought. We had soup, sandwiches, and a drink, and if I remember right, it was about $15 for both. This was 2 years ago. I agree, that is expensive, but we were hungry and didn%26#39;t want to leave, so that was that. But when you have 8 in your party, well, that%26#39;s a different story. I don%26#39;t blame you if you go off site to eat. The cafe is very nice and clean, and I would eat there again, if I had to. I can%26#39;t remember when you are going, but have a great time. from Mary

Thank you Mary! I know we are going to love our vacation. We will be there in mid-June.

we ate at the jamestown settlement cafe yesterday and to feed 3 of us it was $20. My wife and I shared a personal pizza each getting 2 pieces for $6.50,it is a little bigger than a pizza hut personal but sooooo much better. It is great pizza and the crust is thick and melts in your mouth, spicy pepperoni. My daughter had the kids pizza meal combo which is half a pizza,chips,a whole fruit like an apple or bannana,and a soft drink,juice,or milk.

hamburgers/cheeseburgers run between $4.50 and 6.50, hot dog for $3.99, corn dog for $2.99

You can get a meal for not too bad as long as you don%26#39;t go too crazy.

Also, if you want to buy souvineers there, we found out that they are not allowed by law to charge very much over cost for the items, they are not allowed to price gouge in the souvineer shops.
