Williamsburg for Teenagers - What To Do?

We are going June 20 - 27, staying at the Manor Club. We have two boys (16) and two girls (12 going on 20). Would love to hear your ideas on a trip itinerary that includes CW, BG and WC. We are considering purchasing the Bounce Pass online so we would have unlimited access. We would like suggestions on after dark tours of CW (ghost tour) as well. Thanks! JoAnne

Williamsburg for Teenagers - What To Do?

Everything you%26#39;ve mentioned is covered here - probably on the first page or so. If not a search will give you all your answers.

CW, BG, WC %26amp; Jamestown are the major tourist draws in the area - so discussed often. Since we don%26#39;t have a lot of variety the basics are the same - and the websites for the attractions are excellent, no doubt you have discovered them by now.

a search for ';ghost'; or ';ghost tours'; will also get you the info.

How many days you spend at each will depend on the interests of your family. Most teen-agers I know would prefer more time at BG than CW (if CW at all) - what do your kids prefer?

Once you%26#39;ve looked at the websites and have specific questions let us know. it%26#39;s hard for us to suggest an actual itinerary withour knowing what your family likes.

Most families with teen-agers can spend 1-3 days at BG, 1 each at CW, WC Jamestown and Yorktown. Most adults might spend more than 1 day at CW and less time at BG.

Customize the trip for your family.

Manor Club is a nice property - do you golf?

Thanks for your quick response! I have checked out the websites and they are quite helpful. The girls love history and are so looking forward to CW. We hope to spend 2 days there if there is enough to do. I%26#39;m afraid we%26#39;ll have to drag the boys along. The girls and boys both will enjoy BG as they are coaster freaks, so we were thinking of another 2 days there. WC will definitely be a bit hit as well. My question is what to do when, when are the parks least crowded, where are the best places to eat for teenagers (besides Taco Bell). We are driving from New Jersey (about 5 hours)and we were thinking about checking out BG after we get settled at the Manor Club on Saturday. We have stayed at other Marriott Resorts and we like the 2 bedroom accommodations with our big group. We will not be golfing this trip.

You should take a virtual tour of Williamsburg. That way each member of your family could find the points of interest each would be interested in. For first-time visitors, I recommend touring the Capitol, the Palace, the Peyton Randolph House, and the George Wythe House. Participate in one of the trials at the Courthouse. Fit in as many historical trade sites as you can; the wig maker, the milliner, the boot maker are just a few. Check out Revolutionary City. Stop at the Raleigh Tavern Bakery for a light snack. Get your pictures taken in the stocks. After dark you might want to go on a lanthorn tour or get tickets for Cry Witch. If you plan to eat dinner at one of the taverns, make reservations now. Think about taking the family on a carriage ride around Williamsburg.

Are you going to Jamestown Settlement (the one with the replicas of the three ships) or Historic Jamestowne (an ongoing archaeological dig here)? Each of these is filled with interesting historical facts and interpreters who are more than willing to answer questions. Jamestown Pie Factory (good pizza) is located near Jamestown Settlement.

Thanks for your informative response. We are now considering Jamestown as part of our trip. Your tips for us ';first timers'; are awesome. What tavern would you suggest we make reservations? Do we also need to book the evening presentations now? The girls already are looking forward to the ghost tour and ';Cry Witch';. They read ';Witch Child'; for a literature class last month so they are excited for the opportunity to take part in a witch trial. Finally, I read on a forum that CW might be offering additional incentives for summer visitors. Do you know when those incentives (if any) will be announced? Thanks again!

Cry Witch often sells out, so make reservations for it about 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time. Your family would probably enjoy Shields or Kings Arms. The Tavern Ghost Tour is excellent, and I%26#39;m hearing good things about Ghosts Among Us as well. Tavern dining reservations and Tavern Ghost Tour reservations can be made in advance at 1-800-HISTORY.

I hope you%26#39;ll include Jamestown. Both sites are unique and fascinating stories to tell.

The Bounce Pass is great for the flexibility you%26#39;ll have.
