Just returned from a great weekend at Charlottesville. We stayed at the Omni Hotel, which is right next to the downtown mall. Perfect Location, and the Mall area is awesome. Charlottesville should be very proud of their mall area, and it looks great with the new brickwork. We first ate at Cafe Cubano on the mall, and i had a cuban sandwich. This sandwich was not only the best cuban sandwich i have ever had, but the best sandwich i have ever had. It was really delicious. I was in town for the weekend attending a wedding at the Barboursville winery outside of town, and the winery was just stunning. It is a must see on the winery tour. The night before the wedding, we had a meet and greet at Sipps Wine and Champagne bar at the mall, and it also was very nice. The best breakfast i had by far was the Bluegrass grill, although they only take cash and checks, no debit or credit cards. Also had some great doughnuts at Spudnuts, a neat place not too far from our hotel. Took a look around the UVA campus, and it was just stunning. The architecture, the history, it was all just amazing. Monday after the wedding we went to D.C. to see the Memorial Day parade and catch some museums and touristy stuff. We were celebrating our 10-year anniversary as well during this trip, and the Omni Hotel upgraded us for free to a great suite after they found out it was our anniversary. So, all in all, it was a fabulous weekend in Charlottesville and hope to return soon.

I enjoyed your report. Thanks for posting. I agree that Barboursville Winery is just beautiful. The ruin is especially interesting. Congratulations on your anniversary -- nice to read that the hotel treated you well.
