budget lodge beach quarters?

Is this the former Best Western? Has it been renovated? Anyone know any details?

Having a large group in the summer at an oceanfront resort but looking for a lower cost option for those more budget concious.

Anyone recommend a good ocean front property with a lower cost property with in a block of it? The La Quinta looks nice, don%26#39;t know what is close to it.

Thanks!

Sorry, I%26#39;m getting lost in all the hotel names. Now tell us where is your group staying? And you want to stay near them, right?

budget lodge beach quarters?

We have not finalized any plans yet. My hope was to find a beach front property that has a much more budget friendly property close by as an option for those who don%26#39;t want to spend 200+ for a room. I would want it to be within easy walking distance, though. Thanks

Okay..This is the Beach Quarters Resort at 300 Atlantic. Wasn%26#39;t familiar with the budget lodge part.

The LaQuinta is at 2800 Pacific, right? It%26#39;s walkable by some although it would take a while...but you could take the trolley along Atlantic. Subtract 300 from 2800 and go over a street. It%26#39;s not insurmountable.

Let me put on my thinking cap along with my tuna casserole right now. I%26#39;ll get back to you. Anyone else with ideas in the meantime, bring them on. (Not about the tuna casserole, about KCblu%26#39;s trip.)

No,no,no... This is getting silly.

Those were just two possible properties that are OFF the beach that would be cheaper. We want one ON the beach and one OFF the beach but close together so that it would be cheaper.

My first question though was about the Beach Quarters. It used to have nasty reviews but it now has dropped the Best Wester part and is called Budget Lodge Beach Quarters. Just wondering if there had been any improvement besides a name change.

Thanks

Budget Lodge and Beach Quarters are 2 separate hotels. Budget Lodge is at 300 Atlantic (across the street from the beach, but it%26#39;s so close that it doesn%26#39;t feel ';across the street';). Beach Quarters is 501 Atlantic and is oceanfront. Other budget friendly hotels on Atlantic: Newcastle, Golden Sands, Schooner Inn (rates run the gamut so I%26#39;m not sure just how budget friendly). Nearby on Pacific are Beach Carousel, Rodeway Inn, Belmont Inn.

These are all at the southern end, near the hotel or hotels in question. Is this where the resort is that you want to be close to?

By the way, La Quinta is on Newtown Rd, which is about 15 minutes from the oceanfront.

I should mention that since I live here, I don%26#39;t stay in the hotels, so I can%26#39;t say whether these are good or whether they%26#39;re dumps. Check the reviews, and be cautious of reviews posted by first time reviewers.

ooops -- that%26#39;s right -- there is a LaQuinta on Pacific Ave, but it%26#39;s at the opposite end of the beach from Budget Lodge and Beach Quarters. You would certainly be able to walk to restaurants and shops.

We haven%26#39;t chosen a hotel on the beach yet. Last time we were at the northern end of the boardwalk and that was great - though there weren%26#39;t really any restaurants close enough to walk to.

Don%26#39;t think I really have a preference as to location - more interested in facilities. I should say we do want the oceanfront property on the boardwalk. Last time our group had so much fun renting the bikes and enjoying the activity on the boardwalk.

Now that I understand your situation better, I can suggest some other hotels. How about Sandcastle? There is a Super 8, Cutty Sark, Seahawk, Belvedere. Another option is the Quality Inn %26amp; Suites Convention Center -- it%26#39;s a couple blocks to the beach, but very safe and walkable. Since it%26#39;s been a while since you%26#39;ve been to VB, you might be surprised at the amount of new construction in the north end -- lots of new shops and restaurants.
