We haven%26#39;t been to VA Beach since 2003. I understand there are a lot of changes. Some of the hotels we stayed at back then do not seem to be around anymore or they are not listed on the internet. Can anyone suggest a couple of hotels - beachside or not that are realitively clean %26amp; inexpensive? My wife %26amp; I only for a long Labor Day weekend in September. We%26#39;d like at a minimum a microwave %26amp; a fridge in the room. I can%26#39;t seem to get a feel about some of the hotels based on the reviews. They are all over the place!!
Thanks for any suggestions given.
Labor Day Vacation
Some hotels are brand new, and some have been bought by other chains. You can customize a search by going to the hotel association website vbhma.com.
Family and friends have given me good reports on Ramada on the Beach, Sandcastle, Capes Resort. Tourists who have posted in the forum always rave about the Fairfield Inn. All of the Marriott properties seem to be reliable and consistent.
You might try typing the names of those hotels into the Search button just above this screen to see if there have been any comments from recent travelers.
Good luck in your planning. Post again when you think of more questions.
Labor Day Vacation
Allow me to add to Wendy%26#39;s great advice...on the activities during your stay.
First, wow, is Labor Day really Sept. 7 this year? About a week later than last year%26#39;s. Lots of good entertainment on the boardwalk that weekend.
You%26#39;ll have the Rock %26#39;n%26#39; Roll 1/2 Marathon 9/6 and The Verizon Wireless American Music Festival 9/4-6.
VB has these great events so many weekends. This will be the 15th or 16th year for the Verizon festival. The American Music Festival is the largest outdoor musical event on the East coast....good performers, food, etc. Acts perform at 17th, 24th, 31st Streets parks/stages. And then the big one is on the beach where they set up a big stage and the really big act is there. That%26#39;s between 5th and 7th.
Reading the blurb on it...why reinvent the wheel...it will be rock, jazz, blues, R%26amp;B and more.
When there has been an event and we stayed at Ramada on the Beach (around 7th) we could hear what we didn%26#39;t go to pay admission for...and sit on our balcony and relax and enjoy at just about the right decibals for us:)
The Rock %26#39;n%26#39; Roll Half Marathon [about the only thing done by halves in VB:)] will have about 20,000 runners (and the largest half-marathon prize purse in the U.S.) and bands along the course, and a post-race concert...again, at the 5th St. stage. Their site doesn%26#39;t list who the main performer is yet but it%26#39;s always a national act.
Go to www.vbfun.com for more info on those.
