Looking for some inforation re: beach house rental in August.
Where should I be looking for house rentals as opposed to condos?

Trip Advisor does that too, new service. Just look at the top left corner for the blue link ';vacation rentals';. Also, VRBO.com is a excellent source of rentals by owners.

The Rentals pages are a wonderful new asset, mltodd. And they%26#39;ve even upgraded those from when they started to now include prices on the first page so you don%26#39;t have to click on each one immediately...and comments/reviews. Yay! Very handy. You can also search by popularity or price.
You can also do a word search in the little empty box atop these forum posts. Write house and the first two might be haunted house but the others seem to be house and cottage info and comments from lots of people. (I%26#39;d say write house rental but not everyone has used the word rental in their posts.)
You%26#39;ll get reviews on the houses as well as on the rental company services and area and all the things the people staying liked to to...or are looking to do. This you can also search by relevance or date.

In addition to VRBO, you might look at a1vacations.com for rentals by owner.
