In June we are staying at a canal front home in Sandbridge. Is there alot of bugs (mosquitos %26amp; knats) at that time of year? If so, what have you used for a bug spray etc?
Mosquitos and knats in JuneIt varies from year to year. I%26#39;ve never been bothered by mosquitos at the beach - little flies, yeah, when the wind is just right (or wrong). If you%26#39;re concerned, your basic Off will be fine. In the evening, you can try citronella candles if you%26#39;re sitting out on the deck. Some people smoke cigars --
Mosquitos and knats in Junehello,
depending on if there is a breeze or not, there are always bugs. Usually, bugs are not a problem beach side, but always a problem sound side. June is not bad for bugs.
No breeze, then they will land on you.
Breeze, then they will annoy you.
Try some simple bug repellant, or an essential oil like tea tree (smells!) or citronella.
Enjoy the beach, but remember that the ocean water is not yet 70 degrees, so bring your spring suit!
thanks for your replies. 3 weeks to go - can%26#39;t wait
We own on the canal in Sandbridge, and I don%26#39;t remember the knats ever being a problem. They have a top speed of 4mph, as I read, so almost any breeze should take them out of the equation.
I noticed on a walk today that there are some knats at the ends of the streets near the bay, even though we haven%26#39;t see them on the canal.
Years ago, knats used to be a problem in the yard in the early summer (Maryland), and we found that just using a little of ';Off'; would help a lot.
