Good Breakfast

Hi - will be visiting from DE mid June. I am a breakfast freak %26amp; looking for suggestions for good breakfast spots in the area. Would especially like a suggestion for good down-home southern food. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Monticello. Thanks!

Good Breakfast

Try the Bluegrass Grill at 313 2nd St SE in Charlottesville. Great food, good portions.

Good Breakfast

Hi again. Here is another option:

Maya Restaurant located at 633 West Main Street in Charlottesville. I don%26#39;t know too much about it, but friend who live in Charlottesville speak highly of the place. Here is their menu online: http://www.maya-restaurant.com/brunch/

Note about Bluegrass, which i suggested earlier:

Made-from-scratch biscuits, grits, and granola. Awesome honey wheat pancakes, roasted potatoes, and omelets. Only negative is that they don%26#39;t take reservations and fill up quickly. So arrive early, or plan on waiting a little.

bluegrass grill is a great suggestion but the line is usually out the door. If the line is bad and you don%26#39;t feel like waiting the blue moon diner on main st is fantastic and they usually don%26#39;t have the crowds. Another charlottesville staple is The Tavern. Crowds are bad here to but this place is a classic. here is a good blog post on why the diner is so great http://tinyurl.com/r6yd7q

Im thinking the blue moon is not, especially after reading the blog, but is the bluegrass grill smoke free? I always forget about smoking in restaurants since there is no smoking allowed whatsoever at any restaurant here in georgia, it%26#39;s just not a worry, but i%26#39;m hoping that the bluegrass grill is smoke free. also, is spudnuts open on sunday, and if not, what is the best time to get there on monday morning, i%26#39;ve read that you have to get there real early before they sell out. thanks

Tip Top Restaurant

It%26#39;s where the restaurant people go for breakfast after a rough Friday or Saturday night.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Will prob. try all of them! Us 4 girls need more people for a mini-bus winery tour we have reserved on Sun. 6/14 if you know anyone interested in participating. Picking us up at Hol. Inn Monticello at 10:30 a.m. It%26#39;s $79/hr plus gratuity, pay for 5 hrs get 2 hrs free so it%26#39;s 7 hrs.

I think VA recently passed a public smoking ban, not sure of the extent or if in effect yet. If I remember correctly, bars/taverns where children aren%26#39;t allowed may be exempt.

Just returned from the area, the best breakfast place we went to was the Bluegrass Grill- it was fantastic! Just a reminder, though, they do not take debit or credit cards, just cash and checks..Spudnuts also had some of the best doughnuts i have eaten.
