Cherrystone Campground

We are considering camping at Cherrystone campground. Has anyone stayed there, that can tell us if there are shaded sites along the lake or waterfront? Are the sites tiny? or of a reasonable size for a tent, and screenhouse. Thanks for your help.

Cherrystone Campground

Cherrystone isn%26#39;t in Chincoteague -- its in Cheriton further down on the Chesapeake. I doubt that the people reading this forum have been there. I have no experience there myself.

Cherrystone Campground

Cherrystone is focused on RV camping. There are alot of activities scheduled. If you tent camp avoid this campground. Cherrystone is not focused on outdoor or nature activities. Bring your wallet. I visited with cub scouts, total disaster. Look at Kiptopeake, great State Park with plenty of nature, fishing, hiking, birding, swimming, etc, without the crowd.

I am just reading your question towards the end of May, 09. My family and I have been to Cherrystone Campground many many times over the past 40 years. We are now taking our third generation kids, we love it, they love it and we will continue to go period.... I am in my mid 50s, my parents first took our family in the mid sixties, 6 boys a girl and our grand pop, those are some of the best memories of my life. Now I%26#39;m taking my grand children, crabbing and fishing is not what it used to be, but the kids still enjoy trying. There are full service cottages to rent, campers to rent and cabins to rent, and a full service camp store, boat and bike rentals and yes there are shaded sites along the lake and the lake sites are a very good size. Also new, large and long fishing piers with plenty to keep the kids and young adults occupied, also two swimming pools. I could go on but I%26#39;ve said enough. Hope to see you there on labor Day weekend. Ed Bowman, Pennsville New Jersey

  • Extended Parking at Hotels Near Dulles

I am leaving on a mission trip this September and I am looking for a hotel near Dulles that allows you to keep your car there for free or almost free while you are gone. The hotel would also have to have a shuttle or reliable taxi service in the early morning hours (3 am). I did this once in Philadelphia and it was great.

Otherwise, I would have to drive several hours to get to Dulles by 3:30 a.m. so I would prefer to stay in a hotel at the airport and keep my car there.

Does anyone know of any decent options close to the airport? Thanks.

Extended Parking at Hotels Near Dulles

Take a look at this website to get some good ideas:

    鈥bout.com/od/鈥otelsDulles.htm

Extended Parking at Hotels Near Dulles

Search ';park and fly Dulles'; and several sites will pop up. We did this at BWI flying to the west coast and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and it was great. There is a Fairfield Inn that is advertised in the Richmond paper that has a park and fly option at Dulles, but we have never stayed there. Check back at this site for hotel reviews and be sure to call the hotel directly for shuttle hours. Have fun!

Just be aware that some properties restrict your parking to about a week in case your trip is longer.

If the hotel doesn%26#39;t run a shuttle at that hour, you can schedule a pickup with Washington Flyer. I believe they run 24 hrs, although I%26#39;ve only needed them as early as 5am before.

looking for relaxing resort with babysitting & spa services

Our family of 4 had been planning a trip to Puerto Rico, but with the swine flu outbreak, we%26#39;re rethinking being cooped up in an airplane with lots of germy travelers. We%26#39;d been planning to splurge on the Las Casitas Resort in Puerto Rico and are now looking for a domestic alternative--so something on the water of some kind. Onsite babysitting is a must, as we have two toddlers and want to have a few date nights on the trip. I%26#39;m also in dire need of a massage. Recommendations?

looking for relaxing resort with babysitting %26amp; spa services

You could try the Sanderling Resort in Duck ,NC(the outer banks)about a 4 1/2 drive from DC area. It%26#39;s a nice resort on the beach with 2 restaurants, indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center and a fabulous spa. The area is very child friendly and there%26#39;s bike paths and lots of restaurants and shops . I don%26#39;t know if the resort has babysitting but I believe there is a service in the area you could use. Another fun option might be Hershey Resort in PA which has a great spa and many restaurants and activities and of course, Hershey theme park for the kids.

The tide%26#39;s inn....literally:) Check out the Tides Inn. Wow is it relaxin. They have children%26#39;s programs. Check on babysitting/programs for evening. Uusally, if it%26#39;s not %26#39;official%26#39; the program leaders are happy to get babysitting jobs.

You might also look into a place our family loved a few years ago...Disney%26#39;s Vero Beach Resort. 71 acres and surprisingly great for all ages...peaceful spots as well as great for kids. The drive might be comparable to the haul to and from the airport and the flight. And it%26#39;s not actually an amusement park, yet some Disney characters.

A popular one in our area is Kingsmill Resort %26amp; Spa in Williamsburg, VA - www.kingsmill.com

Also, another is the Founders Inn %26amp; Spa in VA Beach, VA - www.foundersinn.com

Not sure if they offer babysitting services or not, but did find a service local to this area for you on Virginia%26#39;s tourism site (www.virginia.org)

    Shore Sitters -http://www.virginia.org/site/description.asp?AttrID=58647

If you go to the Virginia Beach area the Founder%26#39;s Inn is nice, however about a 15 minute drive to the beach. There Hilton is very nice (www.hiltonvb.com), located oceanfront and offers Spa services.

As far as babysitting is concerned, Shore Sitters (www.shoresitters.com) is a locals favorite and they are great for visitors to the area too. They come to your room and can take the kids to the pool, for walks, or just stay in the room-whatever your preference is. This is their 5th summer and all of their sitters are CPR and First Aid certified, background and reference checked.

    Good Luck!

The Cloisters Resort, Sea Island, GA

Jekyll Island Club Resort, Jekyll Island, GA (not directly on the water)

    King and Prince Resort, GA

The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA (not on the water, but lovely and grand nevertheless)

The Santuary at Kiawah Island, SC looks very nice.

If the hotels don%26#39;t have babysitting services listed on their website, I am sure someone at the hotel can make arrangements.

I think there is a Disney Resort near Hilton Head, South Carolina, too.

    BWI to Arlington, VA

Landing for the first time in Baltimore, needing to get to hotel in Arlington, VA. Probably will take a cab but curious how far/long of a trip is it? Thanks.

    BWI to Arlington, VA

That would be a loong cab ride. On a good day, the trip is about 1 hour. Realistically, it could be 1.5 hrs.

If you want to save money, I would suggest taking a MARC train for $6 from BWI to Union Station in DC, then take a cab from there.

Amtrak can get you to Alexandria, VA from BWI for $24-35, but you will still need to take a cab.

Where is your hotel in Arlington? If it is near a Metro station, you could take MARC to Union Station and switch to Metro.

A no-train option could be the SuperShuttle. You%26#39;ll have to share the ride, but it should be cheaper. Why don%26#39;t you get a quote for this, and based on that, make your decision whether you want to pay more for your own cab, ride SuperShuttle or take the train.

    BWI to Arlington, VA

I have done this trip many times and agree, the MARC train is the only way to go(you can do Amtrak during off hours and can find the rates and schedules online). The train is quick and inexpensive. Once you get to Union, take the Metro to the nearest location to where you are staying, chances are you will be able to walk to the hotel from the metro station. You will pay less money round trip doing this than you would one way with a cab, and it is faster.

First time to Sandbridge Beach - Sandbridge Dunes Condo

Love these forums! My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids - 8 %26amp; 12) are planning our summer vacation (we are from central NJ). We%26#39;ve done Williamsburg 2 times and are looking for something a little more ';relaxing';. I%26#39;ve heard great things about this beach and have been looking at the Sandbridge Dunes Condo. I like the fact that it is beachfront, the rooms appear to be spacious and the pool looks nice. Does anyone have any experiences with this condo?

    Thnx so much!!!

First time to Sandbridge Beach - Sandbridge Dunes Condo

We have rented a house at Sandbridge for a week in august the last few years and can say the area is GREAT. I have never stayed at the Condos but they did give us a key to one last year so we could check it out and it was very nice.If you get an ocean front the ground floor does not see above the sand dune so get a higher one if you want to get a good view of the ocean.

First time to Sandbridge Beach - Sandbridge Dunes Condo

4Ever, I live here so unfortunately I don%26#39;t know anything about the condos. I can tell you Sandbridge is a very good choice if you%26#39;re looking for something more relaxing. The beaches are very nice and family friendly. It%26#39;s not as built up and touristy as our Virginia Beach oceanfront/strip, but yet you%26#39;re close enough where you can easily go into that area should you want.

Metro %26amp; Maui - thnx for the feedback. Probably going to book our vacation this weekend and Sandbridge it is. Metro - I%26#39;m lookng at 4th floor rooms at the Sandbridge Dunes Condo - you%26#39;re point about ocean views from the first floor being well taken.

I am the owner of Zen at Sandbridge Dunes (Seibert Realty) and wanted to respond to your email. This is actually the first full year for the Sandbridge DunesCondos. Each unit is individually owned and each offers different amenities. The building is very well maintained and the owners take great pride into making this a great family vacation spot. Some advantages are that it is very conveniently located right as you enter the beach. It sits across from one of only two life guarded beaches. I live in PA and have spent much time up and down the Atlantic coast and it is one of the nicest beaches you%26#39;ll find. Also, there is a lot to do close by for the kids. I hope this helps!

Joang, thnx for the reply. We%26#39;re renting The Ocean Sweet (4th floor, ocean side) and really excited about the trip. I%26#39;ve yet to hear a bad thing about this area! You noted good things to do wiht the kids (we will be visiting Busch Gargens at least once). Can you recommend any specific things for kids in the 8 - 13 range?

    Thnx so much - 4Ever

Be sure to check out the Virginia Marine Science Museum. We have taken our kids (3,6, and 9) there 2 times and they loved it...so did we!

4Ever, I think you%26#39;ll love Busch Gardens. A couple of things for you to do with your kids at the beach are the Virginia Beach Science Museum., which has a great aquarium, touch tanks, etc. Also there is Ocean Breeze Fun Park. This park is primarily a nice water park, but has other things like putt putt courses and race cars. There is also some arcades right on the oceanfront area, along with a couple of haunted houses, lot of shops and restaurants and in the summer time you will usually find some kind of music or other activity going on at the Virginia Beach oceanfront area.

Here%26#39;s a good site for you to check out things to do and things that are going on in our area:

    vbfun.com

Really hope you enjoy your trip to our area!

Have you looked at the Sanctuary Resort? I am trying to make our vacation plans and am torn between the Sandbridge and the Santuary. I love LBI but didn%26#39;t see any good rentals. Also thought about Ocean City NJ.

    Questions about our visit..

My dh and I, along with another couple will be visiting the area for five days at the beginning of June. We had a difficult time finding rooms for the weekend because of HS graduation. We ended up at the Holiday Inn Monticello. Not really what we wanted, but it will have to do. Any suggestions for a good steak restaurant? We are also looking for suggestions for a place with good southern cooking (maybe for breakfast). We are also interested in the local pubs, and going to the local breweries and a few wineries. Possibly doing a little hiking would be nice! I am sure I will be back with more questions soon. Thank for any advice! Tammy

    Questions about our visit..

    Hi Tammy!

I%26#39;m not a Charlottesville native but travel there regularly for business. I%26#39;ve enjoyed lunch at McGrady%26#39;s Irish Pub and Restaurant. Both the food and service were great. Regarding wineries, IMHO you%26#39;ll be visiting one of the best areas in Virginia for wine. Some of my favorites around Charlottesville are First Colony Winery, King Family Vineyards, Veritas Winery and, of course, the Jefferson Vineyard. Be sure to try one of the wines made with our Virginia native Norton grape. I%26#39;ll defer to the locals for a great steak and home cookin%26#39;.

    Enjoy your visit!

    Questions about our visit..

Oops, I forgot to include this link for information on the wineries. Here you go!

    http://www.virginiawine.org/

    Tammy,

For some hiking ideas, there is a recent thread on the Charlottesville forum (4/10/09) titled ';Hiking trails near UVA';. If you haven%26#39;t already seen it, there are several good trails mentioned. Hope this helps.

    Happy trails

    Tammy,

Sorry that you had such a hard time finding a place to stay, the HI Monticello is not luxury by any means, but should be clean and is in a pretty good location for seeing the sights.

To answer your dining questions, for a good steak meal: I am probably not the best one to answer this question as I don%26#39;t eat beef, but will give it a go: there are a few chains in town that are steak houses, I would chose the Aberdeen Barn that is off of Rt. 29 near Hydraulic Road for a celebration type meal. We also have a Outback Steakhouse, also on rt.29 and a Topeka%26#39;s Steakhouse, 250 East. I am not sure if you are familiar with our downtown pedestrian mall area. It is here that you will find our local favorites, many of them feature outdoor seating areas on the mall and a festive atmosphere. I have noticed while dining at Petit Pois that the steak frites looks and smells amazing. I would think that you could find a good steak at many of the restaurants in this area. The mall restaurants run the gamut from very casual and inexpensive to very, very nice and expensive. I would suggest a walk on the mall just to take a look at the menu%26#39;s and to see what is available. One additional thought just occured to me, Duner%26#39;s is located several miles east of the city and likely would have good beef options.

As for southern cooking, I am not quite sure what to recommend, but a few things come to mind. The Bluegrass Grill and Bakery is located a half block off the downtown mall and is known for it%26#39;s homestyle breakfasts. If you are planning on visiting on a weekend, be prepared for a wait, there is also convenient parking in either a garage or lot next door. On Saturday mornings the farmers market is also just up the street. The ';Nook'; on the downtown mall is also a good breakfast spot. Another option, but pretty touristy is the Miche Tavern. A buffet is available that features fried chicken, brunswick stew, stewed tomatoes and the like. Miche Tavern is located just down the mountain from Monticello.

As for the breweries and taverns, I would check out the South Street Brewery, which is just steps from the Bluegrass Grill and again off the downtown mall. The Starr Hill Brewery is another good option, it is located on Main Street between the downtown mall and the Univeristy of Virgina. There is another new estalishment in town called the ';Beer Run'; which I believe features local brews as well as beer from farther a field.

Hiking options abound in this area, I recommend a google search. There is a great walk up the mountain to Monticello that begins near the intersections of Rt%26#39;s 20 and 53, with ample parking. If you want to drive a bit to hike, Humpback mountain is a great hike. We are just half an hour from the Blue Ridge parkway and all that it has to offer. Sugar Hollow to the west of the city is a great place for a easy hike as well.

I think the suggestions already given for the wineries are good, I am not sure if they will be doing it again this year, but in the past King Family Vineyards hosted sunday afternoon polo matches.

We have two local weekly newspapers that are full of wonderful info on local events and restaurants, both are available online. They are: Cville and The Hook.

Hope that you have a great trip, let us know if you have more questions.

Good suggestions given above. As already stated, look at previous posts regarding restaurants, breweries, and hiking. There are a lot of choices for each, depending how far you want to travel. Crozet, west of the city has two breweries and monticellowinetrail.com will describe in detail the wineries and events occurring that weekend. On Fridays, the Downtown Mall has ';Fridays After 5';- a free concert at the ampitheater which is the opposite end of the mall from the Omni. You can get beer or wine there and sit and watch whoever is performing. There will be a lot going on along the whole Mall which is a lot of fun.

As a Massachusetts native, and prior to moving here, I thought of Charlottesville as the ';south';, but because of the University of Virginia and many companies that have global connections, we have more of a metropolitan flavor when it comes to restaurants. Other than the chains where you can go anytime, we really don%26#39;t have a restaurant known just for steak that is great. That being said, we have a wonderful variety of restaurants that do serve beef and previous posts list them (my personal favorites are Escafe and Savour- but we do try a different place each week). There are several inns in the area that may offer a ';southern'; flavor to dinner or breakfast, eg, Clifton Inn, Keswick, and Boars Head. In addition to the South Street Brewery, you can walk around the Corner, near UVA, and check out places like Michael%26#39;s Bistro. It won%26#39;t be too crowded with students.

We have incredible hiking opportunities and to add what%26#39;s close to C%26#39;ville is the Shenandoah Parkway with multiple trails.

    Laura

Thanks for all the great advice. We are looking forward to our visit in a few weeks. One of the things we are considering is the Arcady wine/brewery tour. It sounds fun, but is a bit expensive. Anyone done this tour, and was it worth the $125 a person fee?

I personally have never done that tour nor do I know of anyone who has. Although it is a bit pricey per person, you won%26#39;t have to worry about how much you sample and they%26#39;ll pick you up from various locations. The cost to sample at various wineries is low, but if you%26#39;re going out to western Albemarle County (where the breweries are) you won%26#39;t have to worry about getting lost on the rural roads.

If you haven%26#39;t yet, also check out: monticellowinetrail.com

    Have fun!

    Laura

Downtown Grille has reliably good steaks, and enjoyable ambience, casual elegant. Pricey.

I%26#39;ve had good steaks (both Hanger and Rib-eye) at Bizou Restaurant. Everything I%26#39;ve ever had there is real good. It%26#39;s a well run kitchen.

Try to get to Bashir%26#39;s for tapas.

Best breakfast in town for my money is Tip Top Restaurant.

  • Which Days?

I planned a little getaway for my girlfriend and I to Williamsburg this weekend without even realizing it was Memorial Day. We%26#39;re going to CW and Busch Gardens, hopefully hitting an ocean beach at somepoint. Im driving from the DC area, and would like to know which day is best to go to each area? Is Busch Gardens very crowded on a friday? Or is it better on a Sunday? Other advice is helpful thanks!

Help deciding on inns in Williamsburg

My family is planning a vacation to Williamsburg in July. We all love history, including our 13-year-old son. We will be spending most of our time in Colonial Williamsburg, along with a day at Busch Gardens and the water park. I am overwhelmed by the number of lodging choices. We would like to stay at an inn that is unique to the area (not a chain hotel). I have looked at the Colonial Williamsburg properties, but many have mixed reviews. I believe that we have it narrowed down to three choices: Fife and Drum Inn, The Legacy of Williamsburg and the Williamburg Manor. Can anyone advise me on which would be the best choice? Thank you!

Help deciding on inns in Williamsburg

If you are staying for more than for days the Williamsburg properties are a great value. You get free admission to CW, the continental breakfast is pretty decent, they are on par with the chains in cleanliness and style. You don%26#39;t spend much time in your room anyway and the free admission to CW if you stay 4 nights or more offsets the other things. We have stayed at CW properties on each of our last 4 visits and have had good experiences each time. The Woodlands and the Lodge are nice because of their proximity yo the Historic area and the Visitor%26#39;s Center. I know this is slightly off topic for the info you were looking for, but I thought you might want to consider the CW properties.(No I don%26#39;t work for them!)

Help deciding on inns in Williamsburg

Thanks for your advise, I will look at those again. I was a little unsure, due to the mixed reviews.

The Williamsburg Lodge is a good choice. Remember, most bed and breakfasts such as The Legacy and Fife and Drums have cozy, quaint rooms for two. So a choice of one of those you mention may require two rooms with a teenager.

The Lodge would give you immediate access to the CW restored area, along with a magnificient pool and dining amenities. There may be CW ticket incentives as well. With a teenager, the Lodge would be a first recommendation.

Hi, deedee -- It sounds like you are leaning towards not so much ';inns'; as bed-and-breafast properties. Colonial Williamsburg simply does not have anything like that. The closest you can come is the Colonial Houses, but I wouldn%26#39;t hold out hope that any are still available for July.

If you are flexible as to style of accomodations, I agree that the Lodge is a good choice, and so is the Williamsburg Inn (don%26#39;t overlook the Providence Hall Wing of the Inn, which is more affordably priced but quite comfortable). There is nothing commercial about either (although the Lodge does have a conference center attached), and I would be surprised if they didn%26#39;t satisfy.

    Best of luck!

    Hi

We recently stayed at the Legacy Bed %26amp; Breakfast. I would recommend this place to anyone. Best B %26amp; B we have ever stayed in ( we travel extensively throughout the world). Host%26#39;s were great, breakfast lovely and the rooms clean and well thought out.

    Great place.

Thanks to all for the wonderful information. After doing a lot of research, I have recently decided on the Legacy and was able to get a large suite that will accomodate the three of us. Many of the bed and breakfasts are currently having a summer special--book 3 nights and get the 4th night free--so we were able to book an extra night. Thanks again for the great advise!

    Strange question about Fairfield Inn

Question for anyone who has stayed at the Fairfield Inn. . . .

My husband and I will be staying at the Fairfield Inn on the beach in June. We will be bringing our 21 month old daughter. Since she goes to bed pretty early, I was thinking that maybe we could put her pack n play in the bathroom till we are ready to go to bed. That way we won%26#39;t wake her up if we want to watch TV or, you know, stay up past 8pm :) Do you think the bathroom of a regular room is big enough to put a pack n play in??

We haven%26#39;t stayed in a hotel with her yet and I%26#39;m a little nervous about how we will pull this off!!

Thanks for any input to my silly question :)

    Strange question about Fairfield Inn

While we haven%26#39;t stayed in the Fairfield we have stayed at a lot. I think in most hotels it would make the bathroom cramped for you. And looking at the candid pix on TA here you might have to move out the pack %26#39;n%26#39; play in order to access the bathroom yourselves during the evening. Also, the ventilation isn%26#39;t always the same in a bathroom as in the room unless the door is open. Also, flushing can be loud and could wake the baby with a start.

Try things at home before you go.

In looking at the candid shots and being familiar with other suite hotels it looks like you might move the desk and put the pack %26#39;n%26#39; play there. You might fashion a %26#39;screen%26#39; with a dark sheet from home. Baby being exhausted and you all speaking a bit low like parents need to do at times might do the trick.

Be sure to take familiar sleeping items with you. Be SURE she will sleep in the pack %26#39;n%26#39; play. (I know parents surprised and having to rethink when baby won%26#39;t sleep in her pack %26#39;n%26#39; play.)

Get her used to it at home before the trip if she%26#39;s not already. Even if she is...they change from month to month so do it again. Perhaps even the darkening screen idea. Have certain blankets/toy/traditions/smells that go with sleeping only, perhaps add to her usual sleeping system with a special- sleeping-in-the-pack %26#39;n%26#39; play toy every time she sleeps in the pack %26#39;n%26#39; play at home ...and then bring them to the beach so she associates and it%26#39;s not new.

    Strange question about Fairfield Inn

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn last year and the pack n play will fit in the bathroom, but you will have to move it out when she is not sleeping or you will have a tough time getting around it. But if you want to put it in there when its time for her to go to bed and to sleep so you and your husband can enjoy the beach and stay up past 8, I think you will be fine.

And its not a silly question. I%26#39;m always interested in what the bathrooms look like, that says a ton about a hotel.

Hope you have a great time at the Fairfield, we loved it and plan on returning!

Ive not stayed in the FF Inn, but my wife and I went to VA Beach last year with our 12 month old. She slept in a pack and play. Typically, we put her to bed around 8ish and then enjoyed the evening on the balcony. It worked very well. I could have sat out on the balcony all night long.

Maybe the footprint of the pack and play would fit into the shower/tub.

Most hotels have a fairly standard bathtub. Try it at home and see.

Of course, if she is able to wake up and climb out of the pack and play, you may have other issues whee you wouldn%26#39;t want her in a slippery bathroom with hard surfaces.

Thanks for all the feedback! It sounds like we might be able to put her in the bathroom till we are ready to go to bed. If not, I totally forgot about the balcony - so that would be a good place to hang out with a few beers :) I%26#39;m excited for our trip - thanks!!!

ive been there before and i would suggest that you dont place child and pack n play in the bathroom. perhaps you could try to cover the side of the pack n play with a thin sheet so the light wont bother her, or place the pack n play in a dark area of the room. Is she a light sleeper? also be careful with the patio/balcony as she may be a climber!!!

    budget lodge beach quarters?

Is this the former Best Western? Has it been renovated? Anyone know any details?

Having a large group in the summer at an oceanfront resort but looking for a lower cost option for those more budget concious.

Anyone recommend a good ocean front property with a lower cost property with in a block of it? The La Quinta looks nice, don%26#39;t know what is close to it.

    Thanks!

    budget lodge beach quarters?

Sorry, I%26#39;m getting lost in all the hotel names. Now tell us where is your group staying? And you want to stay near them, right?

    budget lodge beach quarters?

We have not finalized any plans yet. My hope was to find a beach front property that has a much more budget friendly property close by as an option for those who don%26#39;t want to spend 200+ for a room. I would want it to be within easy walking distance, though. Thanks

Okay..This is the Beach Quarters Resort at 300 Atlantic. Wasn%26#39;t familiar with the budget lodge part.

The LaQuinta is at 2800 Pacific, right? It%26#39;s walkable by some although it would take a while...but you could take the trolley along Atlantic. Subtract 300 from 2800 and go over a street. It%26#39;s not insurmountable.

Let me put on my thinking cap along with my tuna casserole right now. I%26#39;ll get back to you. Anyone else with ideas in the meantime, bring them on. (Not about the tuna casserole, about KCblu%26#39;s trip.)

    No,no,no... This is getting silly.

Those were just two possible properties that are OFF the beach that would be cheaper. We want one ON the beach and one OFF the beach but close together so that it would be cheaper.

My first question though was about the Beach Quarters. It used to have nasty reviews but it now has dropped the Best Wester part and is called Budget Lodge Beach Quarters. Just wondering if there had been any improvement besides a name change.

    Thanks

Budget Lodge and Beach Quarters are 2 separate hotels. Budget Lodge is at 300 Atlantic (across the street from the beach, but it%26#39;s so close that it doesn%26#39;t feel ';across the street';). Beach Quarters is 501 Atlantic and is oceanfront. Other budget friendly hotels on Atlantic: Newcastle, Golden Sands, Schooner Inn (rates run the gamut so I%26#39;m not sure just how budget friendly). Nearby on Pacific are Beach Carousel, Rodeway Inn, Belmont Inn.

These are all at the southern end, near the hotel or hotels in question. Is this where the resort is that you want to be close to?

By the way, La Quinta is on Newtown Rd, which is about 15 minutes from the oceanfront.

I should mention that since I live here, I don%26#39;t stay in the hotels, so I can%26#39;t say whether these are good or whether they%26#39;re dumps. Check the reviews, and be cautious of reviews posted by first time reviewers.

ooops -- that%26#39;s right -- there is a LaQuinta on Pacific Ave, but it%26#39;s at the opposite end of the beach from Budget Lodge and Beach Quarters. You would certainly be able to walk to restaurants and shops.

We haven%26#39;t chosen a hotel on the beach yet. Last time we were at the northern end of the boardwalk and that was great - though there weren%26#39;t really any restaurants close enough to walk to.

Don%26#39;t think I really have a preference as to location - more interested in facilities. I should say we do want the oceanfront property on the boardwalk. Last time our group had so much fun renting the bikes and enjoying the activity on the boardwalk.

Now that I understand your situation better, I can suggest some other hotels. How about Sandcastle? There is a Super 8, Cutty Sark, Seahawk, Belvedere. Another option is the Quality Inn %26amp; Suites Convention Center -- it%26#39;s a couple blocks to the beach, but very safe and walkable. Since it%26#39;s been a while since you%26#39;ve been to VB, you might be surprised at the amount of new construction in the north end -- lots of new shops and restaurants.

  • Need more people for winery tour on mini-bus 6/14

Four girls on a road trip have a mini-bus that seats 14 reserved on Sunday June 14 for a 7 hr.winery tour. They are picking us up at 10:30 at the Holiday Inn Monticello. It%26#39;s $79/hr plus gratuity. If we could get a few more people to bring the cost down would be great!

    Spring Hill question

Should we bring beach chairs, umbrella and towels? Doesn%26#39;t look like the hotel supplies them... Thanks!

    Spring Hill question

There are chairs, umbrellas and towels available for use at their pool, but if you want chairs, umbrellas and towels for the beach, you will have to bring your own.

    Spring Hill question

Yeah, it%26#39;s not like a resort that supplies everything. You need all your own beach stuff. But as far as chairs and umbrellas there are places on the sand to rent them or nearby shops to buy them. If you don%26#39;t have room in the car to take them home you can donate to the newest blanket of people when you leave or leave them by the trash can and they%26#39;ll be happily claimed.

One thing we have added to our list of things to take to the beach is a rubber mallet. We take our own umbrealla and the bottom half separates. After we do the digging and winding into the sand with pressure we hit it with the mallet and then attach the top part. We discovered a couple of years ago this really makes a difference, especially when it gets a little breezy and everyone%26#39;s umbrella is blowing away.

Take a cooler for snacks on the beach. The sand is very wide at that point...the football field size the artciles talk about. 300%26#39; from boardwalk to water, which makes for lots of empty space. Take your binoculars to see what%26#39;s swimming by [fish/mammal-wize is only appropriate:)] and the frieghters going off who knows where and the planes.

    Take a kite for evening.

If you have several people on one shower getting ready for the evening, relax in the lobby at the full wall of glass overlooking the ocean while you zone out some more or check your lap top or watch the flat screen; or enjoy a little more sun at the pool and little cafe thingy. The pool is on a side lot so you get sun all day.

    Need anything on evening activities?

  • WatercountryUSA

Planning on going on Friday, May 22. Any heads up on promotion codes that I could use. Also is it worth buying the meal vouchers on line? One extra question - Is the water temp actually warm or quite chilly given the early part of the season?

    WatercountryUSA

Not sure about the water temp, but the air is still chilly as you walk around in a wet suit. I do not believe the water is heated.

The temp though this weekend is suppose to be upper 70s-80%26#39;s but may still not be warm enough.

    WatercountryUSA

    Hi 3gals!

I do not know of any current promotion codes, but if you are staying at a local hotel, it is possible they may sell the tickets at a discount- many of the local hotels do. The website is offering $2 off general parking if you purchase a parking pass online, but that%26#39;s just for the cost of parking, not a discount off the park pass itself.

You can save some money with the meal vouchers, but the down side is that if you don%26#39;t use them to the full, you don%26#39;t get the money back that you spent on them. If you do expect to use them to the full, with everything they include, given the general prices of the food there, you will save around $3-$4 per person. What is nice about them is that you won%26#39;t be carrying cash, and the vouchers will have your name on them so no one else would be able to use them if they got lost.

Also, the water temp is usually only slightly chilly on your first dip, it%26#39;s really not bad at all. They do keep the water heated until later in the season. You may get a little chilly though in a wet swimsuit if there is a breeze with the 80 degree temps that are expected.

    Hope that helps!

Thank You. I am leaving in an hour down 95. I hope it works out well.

    restaurant

I need a recommendation for a really nice restaurant in the Norfolk area. I would like to give my son and daughter in law a gift certificate for a dinner out for their anniversary. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    restaurant

My anniversary is in August if you%26#39;d like to give me one too. OK, so right IN Norfolk, Byrd %26amp; Baldwin is the ultimate la-de-da but it%26#39;s VERY pricey. I would recommend Todd Jurich%26#39;s Bistro (this would be a real treat -- it%26#39;s pricey too, but not like B%26amp;B), Freemason Abbey, 456 Fish, Sirena Cucina. Also nice are Fellini%26#39;s and No Frill Grill (these 2 they could probably afford on their own but it would still be a good gift, if you ask me).

It%26#39;s a short drive to Suffolk, but a gift certificate to Vintage Tavern would be VERY nice.

In Virginia Beach, you might consider One Fish-Two Fish, Steinhilbers (pricey), Tautogs.

In Chesapeake (Greenbrier area), there is a new restaurant called Passions that is absolutely wonderful.

All these have websites, so you might check them out. Good luck with deciding!

    restaurant

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I will also always recommend the Grate Steak. The one on Military Highway in Norfolk. You can never go wrong with this place. It is superb.

yes, grate steak off military highway is awesome for you meat eaters

off colley ave and 21st there is a really good Indian restraunt, Rajput.

So many good restraunts in Norfolk! Off 21st there%26#39;s an amazing peruvian restaurant too. I can%26#39;t remember the name of it, but a Saturday night there with some awesome food, great drinks, and Salsa dancing would be really fun.

    Charlottesville on Memorial Day

Hey Everyone! New here, and was hoping y%26#39;all might be able to help me out with a quick one-day trip I am planning. I am going to be starting at UVA Law School in the fall, but I am to this point totally unfamiliar with the charlottesville area. Since my girlfriend has also never been there, she suggested that we take Memorial Day and go spend a day enjoying the town. Trouble is, since I don%26#39;t know anything about the area, I don%26#39;t know how we are going to fill the day! I%26#39;ve been searching around, and thought that we might go check out a winery, maybe a quick hike or something, but I%26#39;m not sure... If any of you have any particular suggestions on things that you would recommend doing in one day in Charlottesville, it would be greatly appreciated! My girlfriend and I are both avid musicians, and she is very much the artist type, if that helps at all. I%26#39;m sure I should be giving you all more details, but really just looking for any and all suggestions on things a newcomer should do in Charlottesville (while maybe avoiding the overly trendy touristy stuff). Also, any suggestions on where we could head for a romantic dinner?

    Thanks again!

    Charlottesville on Memorial Day

Instead of reinventing the wheel, use the search feature in the top of the forum. The answers you seek are already here to be discovered.

As for a hike, I recommend going to Crabtree Falls. It is a bit further south/west from Charlottesville.

Crabtree is the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi.

    www.nelsoncounty.com/visit/crabtreefalls

Nelson County Virginia is beautiful-no traffic light in the entire county! (So I have been told...)

    Charlottesville on Memorial Day

    Congrats on UVA Law, and good luck. While the legal climate is a little hostile right now, UVA will undoubtedly set you up for success. And with law school, you know what they say: ';1st year they scare you to death. 2nd year they work you to death. 3rd year they bore you to death.';

As for this weekend, here are a couple of things to think about:

-Eat and drink at Mas, a trendy Spanish tapas restaurant. (http://www.mastapas.com/)

-Walk around the Downtown Mall (www.charlottesville.org/index.aspx?page=177). On Friday evenings after 5 pm, there is a free concert at the east end of the Downtown Mall (charlottesvillepavilion.com/fridaysafterfive/).

-Because you will be a UVA student, check out the Corner, a seven-block collection of bars, restaurants, and shops on University Avenue. You have to buy some UVA paraphernalia from Mincer%26#39;s (http://www.mincers.com/).

Well, those are just a few suggestions. For more, take jwhiteree%26#39;s suggestion and use the search feature. Previous posts have other great suggestions.

    Best of luck to you!

For art interests, check out the McGuffy Art Center on 2nd St (walking distance from the Downtown Mall) and there are several galleries along and around the Mall. The UVA Art Museum is closed for renovation until September. Check The Hook and C%26#39;ville, the weekly magazines for music listings.

For a romantic dinner, Clifton Inn is a great place. Also, Savour on Emmet St is close to the campus. Check out a local favorite for breakfast- La Taza Coffehouse - close to downtown on Monticello Rd. It specialized in Cuban food and great coffee. It has outdoor eating as well.

Don%26#39;t forget about Monticello, although it will be very crowded over Memorial Day weekend but so will everything else in the city. Even the popular hiking trails will have quite a few people.

We have quite a few wineries to choose from, check out monticellowinetrail.com

It should be a nice weekend weather wise- enjoy!

  • Dixie's Tavern - Actually A Great Bar/Club Waterside

    Hi:

We are looking for the following %26#39;date night%26#39; option for Sunday night (seems a lot of places are closed though).

Dinner: Thinking Monastery. Will have to park there or somewhere close and walk between dinner then drinks.

After dinner would like to go somewhere to have a few drinks - not college crowd, but some good music. Don%26#39;t mind if it%26#39;s a club/college atmosphere though.

Music: Top 40 preferably but NOT hip hop, rnb style.

Atmosphere: Bar or club where we can dress up a bit, not posh, but not jeans t-shirt kind of bar.

Anyone heard if Dixies is still in existence and is it worth visiting? Is it safe to wlk around this area.

    Thanks

    Dixie's Tavern - Actually A Great Bar/Club Waterside

I think Dixie%26#39;s is closed although it%26#39;s still shown on the Norfolk nightlife page, check out the places listed, http://www.norfolkdowntown.com/nightlife/ for some that might interest you. The downtown Norfolk is safe to walk, lots of bars and restaurants. Enjoy.

    HELP -- Weekend trip

I want to plan a weekend trip to Charlottesville to visit Monticello.

I have a relative who is living in Manassas that we can stay with, but that%26#39;s about two hours away.

    I need suggestions on transportation.

Is there a train we can catch? Do we need to rent a car?

Which airport should be fly into if we are staying in Manassas?

I really need some serious suggestions.

    Thanks.

    HELP -- Weekend trip

There%26#39;s a noon train (the Cardinal) and an evening train (the Crescent) from Manassas to C-Ville, so the train won%26#39;t work for you unless you stay overnight in C-ville.

Dulles Airtport (IAD) is pretty close to Manassas.

Rental car is the way to go

    HELP -- Weekend trip

Dulles Airtport (IAD) is pretty close to Manassas.

Rental car is the way to go

The closest major airport to Manassas is Dulles International (IAD). It is about 17 to 18 miles to the heart of Manassas. Here is its website: http://www.metwashairports.com/Dulles/

With respect to going to Monticello, I agree with the previous post that driving is the way to go. While Charlottesville is served by bus, train, and air, there is no scheduled public transportation that directly serves Monticello. So, if you took the train into Charlottesville, you would need to catch a cab from the train station to and from Monticello. Monticello%26#39;s website offers driving directions: www.monticello.org/visit/directions.html. The website also states that some people visit Monticello with the help of tour operators and offers two options: Gold Line/Gray Line - https:/… and DC Tours - www.dctours.us/tours/tourDetail.cfm… I don%26#39;t know if that is your kind of thing, but it is another option...

As for a place to stay, I don%26#39;t have a particular hotel recommendation. There are many wonderful bed and breakfasts in and around Charlottesville. But, I suggest staying near the Historic Downtown Mall, a pedestrian mall that is home to a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants located in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street Charlottesville. Also, at the east of the Downtown Mall, there is a great outdoor stage and pavilion that often features live entertainment (http://www.charlottesvillepavilion.com/). Every Friday evening from from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm, the Pavilion hosts a series of free concerts (charlottesvillepavilion.com/fridaysafterfive/).

I hope this helps. Have fun at Monticello and Charlottesville!

Ooops, I mistyped the link to Monticello%26#39;s driving directions. As a result, the link doesn%26#39;t work. Here is the correct link: www.monticello.org/visit/directions.html

    Sorry.

Are you spending the night in Charlottesville? If so, the major hotels can help arrange transportation to Monticello. As stated above, staying near the Downtown Mall offers a lot of options. The Omni is right on the Mall. The Hampton Inn and The Marriott Courtyard are on W. Main St near the UVA campus (great place to wander around and see Thomas Jefferson%26#39;s influence), but not far from the Mall.

    Laura

Dulles is going to be the most convenient major airport for you to get to Manassas, unless you want to figure out how to fly directly into the Manassas Airport(airport code MNZ)but to be practical, you would probably want to go with Dulles.

Dulles is about a 30 minute drive from Manassas. You could have difficulty if you land in the afternoon and have to contend with rush-hour traffic, so I would time your flight so you are on the road no later than 3:00 if you want a smooth sailing drive.

The drive from Manassas to Charlottesville is very nice. Yes, about 2 hours.

Not far from Charlottesville is James Madison%26#39;s Montpelier in Orange if you would consider visiting there on your way back. There is a very nice Holiday Inn in the town of Orange. I have stayed there many times and can highly recommend it. It is a newish hotel, and it is built up on a hill with beautiful views.

Orange is about 30-45 minutes from Monticello back towards Manassas.

Rental car would be the only way to go, IMO. C%26#39;ville isn%26#39;t very public transportation friendly outside of the UVA and Downtown core. Downtown ';mall'; is wonderful and, if at all possible, I would stay at the Omni which is right there. The mall is just a lovely place to eat an outdoor dinner. (There are less expensive hotels such as the Sleep in on 5th Street, about 2 miles from the ';mall.'; Don%26#39;t know where you are flying from or if staying in Manassas is a must, but you could also fly directly to Charlottesville or to Richmond (75 minutes east). With both of those options, you would still need to rent a car.

    Beach house rental

    Hi all,

Looking for some inforation re: beach house rental in August.

Where should I be looking for house rentals as opposed to condos?

    Thanks

    ML

    Beach house rental

Trip Advisor does that too, new service. Just look at the top left corner for the blue link ';vacation rentals';. Also, VRBO.com is a excellent source of rentals by owners.

    Beach house rental

    Welcome, travelingpaige.

The Rentals pages are a wonderful new asset, mltodd. And they%26#39;ve even upgraded those from when they started to now include prices on the first page so you don%26#39;t have to click on each one immediately...and comments/reviews. Yay! Very handy. You can also search by popularity or price.

You can also do a word search in the little empty box atop these forum posts. Write house and the first two might be haunted house but the others seem to be house and cottage info and comments from lots of people. (I%26#39;d say write house rental but not everyone has used the word rental in their posts.)

You%26#39;ll get reviews on the houses as well as on the rental company services and area and all the things the people staying liked to to...or are looking to do. This you can also search by relevance or date.

Come back with questions. Happy hunting.

The local rental companies you might contact include Atkinson Realty (dot com), Sandbridge Realty, Siebert Realty, GSH Realty, Pyle Realty.

In addition to VRBO, you might look at a1vacations.com for rentals by owner.

  • The Fall itinerary is finally complete - thank you so much

Hi fellow TAs – I just wanted to stop by to let you know that I have now at last finalised and booked our trip to New England in the Fall.

First and foremost Lyn and I would like to send our sincere thanks to everyone that provided us with so much useful information and advice. We received far more than we could ever have expected – it was such an unexpected and generous gesture – we were extremely touched and it has enabled us to put together what I’m sure will be a memorable holiday.

For those of you involved from the start you will recall that the itinerary at one stage was changing on an almost daily basis. We had so much wrong when we started but thanks to your patience I think we have now got it right.

Getting it right of course means lots of thing to lots of people – it will involve a lot of driving but we don’t mind the driving – driving through this fabulous scenery is part of the pleasure. When we’ve had enough of driving we will stop and walk. New England is studded with scenic views, walking trails and beautiful traditional towns – I don’t think we’ll have any problem finding an excuse to get out of the car and go for a walk.

As you all will know the problem with planning this sort of trip has been what to include and what to leave out. This has been the most difficult part of the whole process – we pass so close to so many places and things that demand a visit – they are must sees – even if it is just a fleeting glimpse but of course it can’t be done. I fully recognise that even now we have probably spread ourselves too thin and we have not given sufficient time to “stop and smell the roses” but this holiday has turned out to be all about compromise. It will be sad not to see Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York State, Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, Niagara Falls and many many more – but that will give us a good excuse to return.

Finding accommodation has been interesting – as advised I have booked early – which was solid advice as accommodation is already filling up fast. We set a budget for our accommodation at £100 per night (approx $160) – now that wont buy you the swankiest place in town (and in some towns there were some very swanky places to stay) but it also doesn’t put you into the cheapest bracket. We (hopefully) have found some gorgeous places to stay and yes we did it all for £100 per night. We tended to go for a lot of motels this time but these motels look really nice – last year on the west coast we only stayed at one motel -The Lone Pine in Cambria - and that was terrific and great value so we weren’t concerned about booking motels this time around. We had a poor experience with our bed and breakfast booking last year but I was determined that we should persevere and convinced Lyn to give it another go and so we booked The Woodstocker Inn, Woodstock, Vermont – it looks fabulous.

Anyway for those that are interested I have detailed below the final itinerary with prices (for information):

Flights from Heathrow to Boston and out of Washington back to Heathrow – with Virgin Atlantic £560 ($880)

    Sept 30th – Oct 2nd – 3 nights - Boston MA– The Club Quarters - £347 ($547)

    Oct 3rd – Oct 5th – 3 nights – Bar Harbour ME - Highbrook Motel - £236 ($373)

    Oct 6th – Oct 7th – 2 nights – Grenville ME, Moosehead Lake – Birch Point Cabins - £179 ($282)

    Oct 8th – Oct 10th – 3 nights – North Conway NH, Golden Gables Inn - £235 ($370)

    Oct 11th – Oct 12th – 2 nights – Woodstock VT, The Woodstocker Inn - £269 ($425)

    Oct 13th - 1 night – Williamstown MA, The 1896 House - £87 ($136)

    Oct 14th – Oct 15th – 2 nights – Harwich Port Cape Cod MA, Sandpiper Beach Inn - £221 ($348)

    Oct 16th - 1 night – Boston Logan Airport – The Wyndham Chelsea - £189 ($298)

Oct 17th Jet Blue Domestic Flight – Boston MA to Richmond VA - £101 ($160)

    Oct 17th – Oct 18th – 2 nights - Skyline Drive – Skylands Resort - £201 ($317)

    19th Oct – 21st Oct – 3 nights - Washington DC – The Washington Plazza £215 ($339)

    Oct 22nd – Fly home.

Our car hire is with Thrifty – we have booked a Sebring (soft top) this is Lyn’s idea although I think it may be a bit cold for open top driving. £480 ($755)

Total comes to bout £3,500 ($5,523) including almost a couple of hundred pounds for petrol – which I think is brilliant for 2 people for 3 weeks in New England (and Virginia).

And that is it – all booked – will now devour even more travel books between now and when we leave to make sure that we pick up all of those “must sees”.

Thanks once again for all of your help – I will keep you all informed on how it went with a full and comprehensive travel report – beware you have been warned!! Lol

    Take care

    Ray

The Fall itinerary is finally complete - thank you so much

    Ray,

You%26#39;ve planned a wonderful trip, chocked full of great sights. The soft top may be a bit cool but if you are lucky and have cool air and sunny days it will allow you to comfortably view the foliage in Shenandoah NP. If I didn%26#39;t mention it before, there is a nice short hike to great views near Skyland; it%26#39;s called Little Stony Man. Less than 1 mile to spectacular views, check it out when you stop by the Visitors Center. Looking forward to your trip report.

    Happy trails.

The Fall itinerary is finally complete - thank you so much

Thanks goneagain - I have copied that one - I will keep this one to myself - Lyn is amazed that we can travel half way around the world and I can come up with these little gems.

Every relationship needs a little mystery - lol

    Thanks

    Take care

    Ray

Sounds like a great trip! Hope you enjoy it, and yes, we will enjoy that trip report.

My friend has a Sebring and she swears you can enjoy it top down in the cool weather by keeping the windows up. By golly -- it works.

This sounds like a great trip -- can%26#39;t wait to read your report.

    Caverns

Which cavern is the best? Only have time for one. Luray, Shenandoah or Endless Caverns in New Market?

    Thank you!

    Caverns

I%26#39;ve only been to Luray, but it%26#39;s the largest and most popular. Enjoy.

    Caverns

I%26#39;ve been to several caverns, and Luray is by far the most spectacular. No other has a stalacpipe organ!

of all the Va caves I have been to Luray is the best larger rooms much more impressive decorations , also better visitor services.

    Luray it is! Thank you!!

  • Staying at Lake Wright hotel 5/27-5/30 2009

I am visiting with my daughter and another mother and her child. The problem is they are from Japan and I don%26#39;t think I want to take them to the Nauticus or other military museums. Is everything so spread out that we need a rental car? What do we see with two 11 year old girls?

Staying at Lake Wright hotel 5/27-5/30 2009

It would be difficult to get around without a car, however the Lake Wright location is convenient to I64, I264 and other major roads so driving to %26amp; from places will be relatively easy. As far as things to do, consider Botanical Gardens, Va Beach resort area very nice boardwalk for walking and bike riding (rent bikes), First Landing State Park for nice trails or picnic, MacArthur Mall Downtown Norfolk, If the girls are into American Girl dolls, there is a museum in Downtown Norfolk, Hunter House, that has AG events, and your hotel has an adjacent golf course. Everything I mentioned is 30 minutes or less from Lake Wright. Let us know if you have specific interests, need directions, or have other questions. Enjoy the area.

Staying at Lake Wright hotel 5/27-5/30 2009

I have done a little research and I think I would like to see the waterfront area of Norfolk and Portsmouth but I have heard the parking is very limited and expensive. I was considering driving to Portsmouth and parking near the ferry and trying to do a walking tour of both cities. Is this feasible? What can you tell me about where to park in either Norfolk or Portsmouth? Thank you.

Parking in Downtown Norfolk is not difficult, there are plenty of public lots and garages. For visiting the Downtown Waterfront, I would suggest parking at the Waterside garage (http://www.norfolk.gov/Parking/Garages.asp), take the pedestrain walkway to the waterfront, walk to Nauticus and USS Wisconsin and continue a couple more blocks and enjoy the cobblestone streets and old homes in the Freemason Historic District. Return to the Waterside area and take the ferry to Portsmouth, walk around the Downtown area. You could also park at the garage across from Nauticus. Check out the parking map at this site, http://www.norfolk.gov/Parking/Map.asp, it shows parking garages in relationship to attractions.

    Hope this helps.

Best route from Lynchburg to Sklyine Drive:Skyland

Will be leaving Raleigh NC area in the morning, have to make a stop in Lynchburg on our way to Skyland Resort on the Skyline Drive. What route to take from Lynchburg? We will not be in any hurry. Virgina experts, what would you suggest?

Best route from Lynchburg to Sklyine Drive:Skyland

I would take Route 29N and at Ruckersville (above Charlottesville) take Route 33 into Shenandoah NP. From that Park entrance you are only about 10-12 miles from Skyland. If you want to enjoy more of Skyline Drive, take 29N to route 250W toward Waynesboro and enter the Park and Skyline Drive at Rockfish Gap. At this point you will be about 65 beautiful miles from Skyland.

    Happy trails

Best route from Lynchburg to Sklyine Drive:Skyland

RoseSayer, If you want to enjoy some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, just take 29N to 60W, enter the parkway at Buena Vista. At Waynesboro the BRP becomes Skyline Drive. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the quick response! That is the info I was hoping for. Maybe we will take one route up and other home. Looking forward to our visit to this beautiful area.

    Best BBQ in Richmond??

Any place you can recommend for the best BBQ?

    Best BBQ in Richmond??

try anthony and george next of Staples Mill Road station.i think is one of the best in richmond.

    Best BBQ in Richmond??

Benny%26#39;s BBQ located in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center. Southside near the intersection of Forest Hills and Hathaway. Good sides, too.

Buzz and Ned%26#39;s, on the Boulevard, just off I-95 is the best in Richmond. Stay away from Anthony and George%26#39;s.

Definitely, Buz and Ned%26#39;s on Boulevard. It was featured on FoodNetwork%26#39;s Throwdown with Bobby Flay and Buz and Ned%26#39;s won!

The Smokey Pig in Ashland (just north of Richmond) is good. Best bbq chicken on the bone.

Well, ';a trial makes a customer'; at Bill%26#39;s BBQ, with several locations around Richmond. The BBQ is good, but I LOVE the limeades! If you are going to eat BBQ only once in Richmond, go to Buzz %26amp; Neds.

never been a fan of bills bbq, but their limeade is quite tasty.

Buz and neds, hands down. Bills bbq is disgusting and overpriced. Bennys id good, made on premises. Theyre closed Mondays though.

    Rip Currents

Sadly, on the first holiday weekend of summer a man drowned on 10th street at the oceanfront. This is an area with lifeguards-but they can only do so much. Swimmers must educate themselves on the dangers of the ocean and how to remain safe. Being a good swimmer is not enough-the ocean is not a swimming pool or lake. Below are some sites that offer information on rip currents.

  • Mosquitos and knats in June

In June we are staying at a canal front home in Sandbridge. Is there alot of bugs (mosquitos %26amp; knats) at that time of year? If so, what have you used for a bug spray etc?

    Mosquitos and knats in June

It varies from year to year. I%26#39;ve never been bothered by mosquitos at the beach - little flies, yeah, when the wind is just right (or wrong). If you%26#39;re concerned, your basic Off will be fine. In the evening, you can try citronella candles if you%26#39;re sitting out on the deck. Some people smoke cigars --

    Mosquitos and knats in June

    hello,

depending on if there is a breeze or not, there are always bugs. Usually, bugs are not a problem beach side, but always a problem sound side. June is not bad for bugs.

No breeze, then they will land on you.

Breeze, then they will annoy you.

Try some simple bug repellant, or an essential oil like tea tree (smells!) or citronella.

Enjoy the beach, but remember that the ocean water is not yet 70 degrees, so bring your spring suit!

thanks for your replies. 3 weeks to go - can%26#39;t wait

We own on the canal in Sandbridge, and I don%26#39;t remember the knats ever being a problem. They have a top speed of 4mph, as I read, so almost any breeze should take them out of the equation.

I noticed on a walk today that there are some knats at the ends of the streets near the bay, even though we haven%26#39;t see them on the canal.

Years ago, knats used to be a problem in the yard in the early summer (Maryland), and we found that just using a little of ';Off'; would help a lot.

    Staunton/Charlottesville area visit

Planning a trip to the area to recharge my self. What is not to be missed? Are any of the little towns in the area waterfront? Planning to take in Crabtree falls and a couple of wineries.

    Staunton/Charlottesville area visit

Waterfront to what? The area is mountains, so the only thing you will find in the way of water is small streams/rivers and the occasional cow pond.

There are a few man-made lakes for recreation like Sherando.

Crabtree is a nice hike. It is pretty rigorous once you get past the lower part. If you have a 4WD vehicle, there is a way to get to an upper parking area at the top of the trail-head. This site has directions at the bottom of the page:

    …away.com/gorp/…waterfalls1.htm

There is the Humpback Rocks mountain farm on the Blue Ridge Parkway only about 6 miles from I-64. This is a living history farm which is neat to see.

If you are up for pampering, Wintergreen Resort is in that area as well.

    Staunton/Charlottesville area visit

For a nice, outdoorsy day, wander through the Museum of Frontier culture in Staunton. It takes quite awhile to get to Crabtree Falls, so allow alot of time. Humpback Rock is a nice hike, but pretty much straight up for a mile and lovely views at the top and rock to climb out on. The farm at the base is interesting. Of course there is Wintergreen with spa if you are looking for a modern re-charge.

I am not at all familiar with the area so when I read about Crabtree Falls I thought there must be a water source and there seem to be lots of squiggly blue lines on the map so I thought maybe some of the ';downtowns'; had taken advantage of these waterways.

I would like to be able to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal some where with a little charm(?).

Thanks for the suggestion of Wintergreen but I can get spa treatments back home so I%26#39;ll probably skip that. A yoga class would be nice. Does that exist in Staunton or is Charlottesville the closest place for something like that? Thanks for your help!

Oh, also, any place for live music? Either indoors or out?

If you go on the web site for Shenandoah Parkway, you%26#39;ll be able to access information about hikes that include waterfalls. If you get off 29 S onto 33 W, it will take you to an upper access to the Parkway. Not far from the entrance is Big Meadows. There is a restaurant at the lodge that has never disappointed me. You can sit out back and take in the mountain views. Sometimes on weekends, the lodge has live music. The Parkway is where I go to recharge.

Another place around here with water and hiking trails is Sugar Hollow. Not too far from a number of the wineries. Check out previous posts regarding local hiking. We have a number of lakes and a large reservoir, but unless you%26#39;re swimming/boating/fishing, there really isn%26#39;t an waterside outdoor venue that I am aware of.

You can access The Hook and Cville Weekly online to see what music venues are going on in town. Every Friday night there is free live music on the Downtown Mall that starts at 5:30 PM and ends around 9. There%26#39;s a pavilion there now where the seating is under cover- not as fun as before it was built, but free music none the less. There are a number of restaurants along the mall that have outdoor seating. Weekends are crowded down there with UVA students during the school year and tourists in the summer.

    Laura

    do i need a ticket?

We are going to an evening ticketed show, ';dance, our dearest diversion'; and have tickets for that. Is that enough to attend, or do we also need our CW admission pass, which I was hoping not to pick up until the following day as our plane arrives late and the admission pass is attached to our bounce pass. Thanks in advance.

    do i need a ticket?

Since you already have your event tickets, you should be able to acquire your admission passes the next day with no problem.

    do i need a ticket?

You might like to ask the reservationists at 1-800-HISTORY.

You do not need your CW admission passes to attend an evening program but you do need your program tickets (or receipt) in hand when you attend. If all tickets were reserved on one confirmation through CW, they will print out at the same time. If your Bounce pass was reserved seperately through BG, and ';Dance'; through CW, stop at the Lumberhouse ticket office at the end of the Palace Green to pick up your program tickets. That is the only ticket office open until 9:00 p.m. to accomodate evening arrivals.

Hazel%26#39;s post indicates they already have their tickets for the evening program, so there is no need to pick up the CW admission pass that same evening. To do so would start the bounce pass a day early, when it%26#39;s too late ot be used for that day.

Water Country USA or Busch Gardens

Hello. My husband and I are taking our 4 year old and 1 year old to Williamsburg this summer. Trying to decide whether to go to Water Country or Busch Gardens. Any opinions on where the 4 year old (1 year old will have fun ANYWHERE) would be most entertained? We%26#39;re leaning towards Water Country, because he loved the water parks we went to last summer, but have heard so many wonderful things about Busch Gardens. What do you think?

Water Country USA or Busch Gardens

I think only you know your kids and what they will enjoy.

Both parks are great - if you can%26#39;t fit both into your schedule decide which one works for your family.

Sesame Street at BG is a nice addition for kids.

WC is a fabulous water park.

Which one of the parks is more unique for your family? Are you able to visit amusement or water parks on a regular basis?

Water Country USA or Busch Gardens

Will you be staying in Williamsburg? Consider staying at Great Wolf Lodge to enjoy their waterpark, and then going to Busch Gardens.

The new Sesame Street Forest of Fun area in BG has at least one water feature - tall poles with buckets that spill the water - the kids seemed to like that! If you go to BG, I recommend More Pet Shenanigans, I think the whole family would enjoy it.

The thing is, you want the 4 year old to be entertained, but you and your husband want to enjoy it too. Which is more appealing to you, the parents? That%26#39;s the one I%26#39;d choose, were I in your shoes.

You didn%26#39;t say how long you%26#39;d be in Williamsburg, why not both? They%26#39;re both fantastic and owned by the same company. Our then 3 yr old had a blast at both. Alot of the ticket options will allow you to bounce back and forth. Check out the ticket which includes BG, WC and Colonial Wmsburg. Children 4 and 1 would get a free ticket and it would also include parking at WC or BG.

  • wanted affordable family motel..w/extra sleep sofa in room

My family will be traveling to Richmond June 10th-14th. Some of our activities will be focused downtown...hotels there way too expensive...wouldn%26#39;t mind something a ways out West Broad (even Short Pump), or possibly down south toward Chester, as we will be visiting friends down that way as well (nothing around Phillip Morris...the smell you know!!)

I%26#39;m looking for a clean non-smoking room in a decent neighborhood w/2 doubles or and an extra sleep sofa (there%26#39;s 5 of us...rollaways are lousy). Pool would be nice...as well as any other ';extra amenities';. In room fridge would be nice too. Thing is we%26#39;d prefer to spend $90 or less per night (it would be 4 nights...some places will ';cut a deal'; for extra days).

Any suggestions or recommendations??? I%26#39;m on dial-up and this search is taking FOREVER!!!!

wanted affordable family motel..w/extra sleep sofa in room

The closest thing that I could come up with that I could recommend is the Comfort Suites in Glen Allen, which is just north of Richmond. They are showing a suite with 2 queen beds and a sleep sofa for $114.99 a night for your 4 night stay. You%26#39;ll also get a microwave and a refrigerator, and an indoor pool. I think this price is a really good deal.

You may find something cheaper, but there a lot of hotels in Richmond that I would definitely NOT recommend, either because of their condition, location, or safety. If you are considering something else, let me know and I%26#39;ll give you my honest assessment.

wanted affordable family motel..w/extra sleep sofa in room

Thanks. Yeah, I lived in the Richmond area for 20 years, I know there are lots of undesirable areas. With our budget, we%26#39;ve decided our best bet is to go with a room with 2 or doubles, and then just go to Wal-Mart and pick up an ';air bed';. Even if we have to get rid of it before we fly home...we%26#39;ll have saved a bunch (I can even pack extra sheets in a suitcase).

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

I found two good suggestions: The Days Inn at Chesterfield Town Center shows rates of $68-$76/night for your dates and includes breakfast. It is located by a safe mall with a brand new Fresh Market, Dicks, Lowes, and stores at the mall nearby as well as Walmart probably less than a mile away. I haven%26#39;t stayed there because we live nearby, but my VERY PICKY neighbors did when we lost power for 5 days and they said it was good.

The other suggestion that came up was the Wingate by Wyndham in Short Pump which is ranked #5 on Tripadvisor. Rates for your dates were $69-$90/night.

Driving from NY on the friday of Memorial Weekend

I will be driving from NY city to Williamsburg, VA on Friday May 22 and will be leaving at 1:00pm. I have investigated what has been written here, map quest, google maps and other suggestions. In all there seems to be many places where it can go horribly, horribly wrong. I am travelling with my two children (8%26amp;10) and am hoping a savvy traffic sensitive (particularily given the long weekend and Washington realities) person to give me a definitive tested route. A tall order, yes, but otherwise the potential ';fun with Mum'; trip could be a fisco of regrets on I95. I am also left with the dreaded question of ';Is it worth it?'; if the journey is so bad. One other mention is the reality of the return. Will I encounter similar prob on Mon. afternoon? Regards, B

Driving from NY on the friday of Memorial Weekend

I can only advise avoiding 95 south of our beltway (495) through Fredericksburg. It might make sense to take US 301 to US 17 to get you into the tidewater area of VA. This will be a more pleasant alternative. North and east of DC, I%26#39;m not as experienced with (I live west of it), so hopefully someone will be able to help you out with getting from Baltimore to US 301.

Driving from NY on the friday of Memorial Weekend

Dear 2galsontour, I will be honest with you I have driven from New Jersey to the Easter Shore of Virginia, on memorial day weekend and I95 will get messey once you hit Philadelphia from there you will be in and out of back-ups if you take I95 to Rt. 13 and Rt. 1 bypass. On the bright side once you get past Salisbury, MD it will open up on Rt. 13 all the way to VA Beach (across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). By the time you hit I64 it should be smooth sailing to Williamsburg.

I have also traveled from Pennslyvania to the Hampton Roads area on non-holiday weekends and have hit bad traffic comming down I95 and I64. I highly suggest the 301 to Rt. 17 on holiday weekends it is a bit longer driving time, but much less traffic!

It%26#39;s a long drive for just a weekend getaway, but there is a lot for you to see and do in the Hampton Roads area!

Just in case you are considering Rt 13 across the Ches. Bay Bridge Tunnel to Va Beach, then I64 to Williamsburg......I%26#39;m sorry to tell you that during the Memorial Day holiday there is not much smooth sailing through this area (other times this can be reasonable option). You would likely hit significant delays on I64 west at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and possibly portions of Newport News.

    Good luck.

But, 2 projects were recently completed, which cost countless billions of dollars and several years of work: the widening of the horrible Wilson Bridge (I-95/495 at Alexandria, VA) and the complicated redesign of the Springfield interchange (I-95/495/395 at Springfield, VA). Haven%26#39;t these helped traffic flow, now that they%26#39;re open ?

MM, they probably have helped, but I%26#39;ve still seen significant delays until around Fredericksburg on I-95 going to Richmond, at various seasons, days of the week, and times of day. Just better to be prepared, and if things do go smoothly, count it as a gift!

    Hello

I will also be traveling that weekend so you think it would be best to take route i-95 to 1 and 13? instead of i-95 all the way down?

    PLease advise

we are trying to get there as quick as possible.

    Smokey,

I think the consensus is that 301 to 17 is likely the best option. From Route 17 (after you cross over the Coleman Bridge), you can take the lovely Colonial Parkway to Williamsburg (which is what I would do) or continue a few miles until you see a sign for I64 west which will also get you there.

    Happy trails

Regarding Rt 13, like GoneAgain2 mentioned, once you cross into Norfolk, and if you then need to head back west to the Peninsula, you will have miserable delays at the HRBT. You could try 664 and using the Monitor Merrimack, but I doubt it will be significantly better (caveat: for holiday weekends only, otherwise this is usually a good alternative). If you are staying on the ';Southside'; then 13 would probably be a great option.

I don%26#39;t envy anyone trying to drive on Friday before Memorial Day. If it were me, I would seriously consider leaving late Thursday night and driving straight through, or at least getting as far as possible then getting up early Friday to continue on.

And regarding the recent DC construction projects...IMO what they did doesn%26#39;t even really help alleviate daily congestion much less the huge volume increase of holiday traffic. The mixing bowl is noticeably better, but the backups have just moved further south on 95 where the HOV lanes merge back onto the main highway (5 lanes condense to 3). You can navigate onto 95 off the beltway more easily but you will still experience pain until after Fredericksburg.

Not wanting to add to your driving angst, but be aware that I-64 between I-295 and Williamsburg and Newport News can be very congested on holiday weekends -- or any time, for that matter. The road is two lanes in each direction, and one slow driver or a minor fender bender can stop or back up traffic for miles along that thirty mile stretch. If this should happen (and unfortunately, it does frequently), an alternative is to take Route 60, which is just a mile or two south of I-64, into Williamsburg. Even with heavy traffic, this route is a little more relaxed and a pleasnat drive.

Another option would be to take Amtrak from Penn Station into Williamsburg and rent a car once you arrive. It would be a far smoother ride and you could sit back and relax with the kids.

Take a look at www.amtrak.com for schedules and prices (at this moment in time it looks like you all----or y%26#39;all if you prefer---could travel roundtrip---albeit at off hours--for a little over $300).

    Good luck!

needed: a place for an evening gathering of about 20 friends

Any suggestions of a B%26amp;B or hotel where I might host about 20 Richmond friends for an evening while I visit Richmond this summer?

needed: a place for an evening gathering of about 20 friends

I%26#39;d like to help, but you%26#39;ve given me very little information to go on to explain exactly what type of event you%26#39;re looking to host or what the guests might be interested in.

needed: a place for an evening gathering of about 20 friends

Thank you for your question. The get-together would be a gathering of about 20 middle-aged folks who would like to listen to some music which I will supply (not loud music) and have an informal meal which we might all supply in the form of a pot luck. I was wondering if any local hotels where I would book a room might allow us to use their pool, or if I stay in an Inn or B%26amp;B if they would have a patio or garden where we could gather.

I hosted a party similar to this at the Omni in downtown Richmond. I had a choice of a suite, a hospitality room, or a area of the pool that would be sectioned off for us. I ended up going with a large suite, and it worked out fine, but one of the other options may be more to your liking. I was able to bring in my own food and drinks. http://www.omnihotels.com/

If you want to go the B%26amp;B route, you may have better luck if enough of you are staying to rent the whole place. Otherwise they may be concerned about the effect of your party on other guests.

Help with things to do in Chincoteague

My boyfriend and I are leaving for Chincoteague on June 5th and will be there until the 8th. We are in our early 20s and I was just wondering if I was missing anything from our itinerary. The three big things we want to do are go on one of the scenic cruises, go to the beach, and explore the wildlife refuge. I%26#39;m planning this completely off of Trip Advisor%26#39;s list of Things to Do so I%26#39;m sure that there are probably other options. Ice cream at the Island Creamery

    Movie at the Island Roxy

Visit the Pony Centre, where you can see descendents of Misty and other Chincoteague ponies

Climb to the top of the Assateague lighthouse

    Steamed crabs!

If you enjoy wineries, there are a couple on the Eastern Shore. One is Bloxom, another is Chatham, and there may be more.

    Have a great time!

Help with things to do in Chincoteague

On you way to the island or home give yourself time to visit the Ward Museum in Salisbury -- neat and worth an hour stop and on your way north or west.

Go the NASA musueum on Chincoteague Road -- you%26#39;ll pass it on the way in.

Either rent a kayak for the bays on the Island or rent a kayak or Canoe from the Pocomoke River Canoe Compnay in Snow Hill and drift down the Pocomoke River -- a neat 1/2 day adventure.

If you are more adventurious, rent a jet ski for a couple of hours.

Restaurants are rated on Tripadvisor -- try The Sea Shell Cafe, Bills, The Vietnamese place. Not rated yet is the new Mexican place which is pretty good and Woodys for takeout BBQ. Get steamed crabs from Garry Howard if you have a place to eat them -- or just go to one of the parks and have a picnic.

If they are running the tour bus in the Refuge take it -- you%26#39;ll get to see the 2nd bigger herd of ponies that you can%26#39;t see otherwise -- go to the Refuge Visitor Center to buy tickets.

    Relax, enjoy.

Thank you! This info helps a lot!

There is really great hiking on the refuge and bike trails as well, but in case it rains - we%26#39;ve got a bowling alley, movie theater and the Oyster museum is a hoot.

Transportation from BWI to Marymount University in Arlington

What is the best economical way to transport 8 people from BWI in Baltimore to Marymount University in Arlington?

Transportation from BWI to Marymount University in Arlington

You can get an exclusive van service from SuperShuttle.com for $125 for up to 10 people.

For just a couple of people I would have suggested taking MARC to Union Station and then a cab or metro, but with a group I would go with a van to keep the hassle of moving luggage and keeping up with everyone to a minimum.

  • Busch gardens with an 8 and 10 year old, enough to do?

Hi, my kids love rides, but aren%26#39;t into extreme rollercoasters. Are there enough rides there to keep them busy? Tix for all of us would be about $200 and I need to know if it%26#39;s worth it. Thanks

Busch gardens with an 8 and 10 year old, enough to do?

Busch Gardens is a beautiful theme park, with many rides -- not just rollercoasters. In addition, the new Sesame Street attraction may appeal to the young ones. There are animals, shops and much to do there. Smiling faces and happy kids are plentiful. The Busch Gardens Williamsburg web site, http://www.buschgardens.com/BGW2/ describes the attractions and hours, etc.

If you are coming to see any of the other attractions such as Water Country, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown or Jamestown Settlements, be sure to check out the bounce pass that offers admission to multiple sites for a reduced price.

Busch gardens with an 8 and 10 year old, enough to do?

There are lots for younger children to do at Busch Gardens. I have three daughters, 8,11,15 and we have been to BG the past three years and they love it. There are some height restrictions on some of the rides, you can get info on that from the website. Lots to do besides the big 5 coasters.

  • First time family trip to Virginia

    Hi,

I am researching for a long family weekend trip in late August to Virginia and am interested in a quiet beachfront town that is kid-friendly and has ocean front restaurants. Does Chincoteague fit the bill?

First time family trip to Virginia

Chincoteague is a quiet shore town that is VERY kid friendly and has some great restaurants.

However, to clarify -- it isn%26#39;t on the ocean -- its on the bay in between Assateague and the mainland. Assateague is a park and Wildlife Refuge -- with miles and miles of fabulous beaches with no ugly condos, high rises, or boardwalk. Wild ponies, Sikh deer, and hiking and biking paths and a picturesque lighthouse are out here -- but no oceanfront restaurants.

You can get the feel for the restaurants by looking at the reveiews here on Tripadvisor -- there are many and there is a lot of seafood as well as other choices.

The speed limit everywhere is 25mph -- your kids are safe whereever they go. There is miniature golf, go karts, and a movie theater. EVERYTHING is family oriented -- no big nightclubs or bars.

You will love it -- but to be fair it is not on the Ocean!

First time family trip to Virginia

Chincoteague is also one of the few quiet places that near a beach. Most are much noisier and busier.

Chincoteague is on an island and is surrounded by water like you%26#39;d expect. Assateague Island is the next island out and does have beaches on the Atlantic. It isn%26#39;t a long drive to the beach and can be interesting. Especially if the ponies are near the road.

Here%26#39;s a link to some pictures and information we put together. It should let you see what that area looks like.

    Good Breakfast

Hi - will be visiting from DE mid June. I am a breakfast freak %26amp; looking for suggestions for good breakfast spots in the area. Would especially like a suggestion for good down-home southern food. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Monticello. Thanks!

    Good Breakfast

Try the Bluegrass Grill at 313 2nd St SE in Charlottesville. Great food, good portions.

    Good Breakfast

Hi again. Here is another option:

Maya Restaurant located at 633 West Main Street in Charlottesville. I don%26#39;t know too much about it, but friend who live in Charlottesville speak highly of the place. Here is their menu online: http://www.maya-restaurant.com/brunch/

Note about Bluegrass, which i suggested earlier:

Made-from-scratch biscuits, grits, and granola. Awesome honey wheat pancakes, roasted potatoes, and omelets. Only negative is that they don%26#39;t take reservations and fill up quickly. So arrive early, or plan on waiting a little.

bluegrass grill is a great suggestion but the line is usually out the door. If the line is bad and you don%26#39;t feel like waiting the blue moon diner on main st is fantastic and they usually don%26#39;t have the crowds. Another charlottesville staple is The Tavern. Crowds are bad here to but this place is a classic. here is a good blog post on why the diner is so great http://tinyurl.com/r6yd7q

Im thinking the blue moon is not, especially after reading the blog, but is the bluegrass grill smoke free? I always forget about smoking in restaurants since there is no smoking allowed whatsoever at any restaurant here in georgia, it%26#39;s just not a worry, but i%26#39;m hoping that the bluegrass grill is smoke free. also, is spudnuts open on sunday, and if not, what is the best time to get there on monday morning, i%26#39;ve read that you have to get there real early before they sell out. thanks

    Tip Top Restaurant

It%26#39;s where the restaurant people go for breakfast after a rough Friday or Saturday night.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Will prob. try all of them! Us 4 girls need more people for a mini-bus winery tour we have reserved on Sun. 6/14 if you know anyone interested in participating. Picking us up at Hol. Inn Monticello at 10:30 a.m. It%26#39;s $79/hr plus gratuity, pay for 5 hrs get 2 hrs free so it%26#39;s 7 hrs.

I think VA recently passed a public smoking ban, not sure of the extent or if in effect yet. If I remember correctly, bars/taverns where children aren%26#39;t allowed may be exempt.

Just returned from the area, the best breakfast place we went to was the Bluegrass Grill- it was fantastic! Just a reminder, though, they do not take debit or credit cards, just cash and checks..Spudnuts also had some of the best doughnuts i have eaten.
